Weird question re: AI Nationalities

Not important in any way at all, just jomething I've been curious about for awhile:

I've noticed that the AIs are pretty frequently Canadian. Averaging out to maybe one Canadian per race? The thing is, we don't EXACTLY have a stellar motorsports history or culture up here, and the OTHER AIs are mostly all from countries that DO (UK, US, Japan, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, etc).

I've been wondering whether the game just programs a certain number of opponents to be from the same country as the player, or if PD just wanted to toss us a bone and pretend that Canadians are actually decent racers in their virtual universe.

While each game is different, I can say that Countries are paired with the names. How they pick it up is completely random.

There are exceptions where the AI drivers are picked from IRL sports events as well as the respective cars, such as NASCAR and Super GT event in career mode.

I think it is just compensation for not having Canada in GT Academy! But honestly, I don't think anyone here knows how the algorithm to select the flags works.

I guess the main thing is I'm wondering if people from OTHER countries have noticed the weird preponderance of Canadian AIs, or an unusually large number of drivers from other countries not exactly noted for their racing history (like, I dunno... Hungary, Kenya, Uruguay, whatever?).

I've noticed the thing with the names. My favourite is when I race against names like "G. Vidal" or "N. Wolfe" or other accidental celebrities / fictional characters.

I like to think that they're put in deliberately but confirmation bias might be making us see them more than we should.

I think you're finding what I find - there's always a high concentration of UK drivers when I race in career mode. Bare minimum one other, even when only 6 car grid.

I personally have noticed a lot of Belgian AI drivers in single player. Maybe it's just linked to your own country.
