West Nile Disease

Freaky stuff. One out of 100 mosquitoes have it. Only 1 out of 150 people who are bitten by one of those gets the serious kind of the disease. Well, what do you guys think??

A Non-Story in my opinion.

People die from diseases like cancer every day in the thousands. There is no cure for that, and it is world-wide.

This West-Nile virus has claimed 11 people in the entire country in the last month?

They make it sound like it's the plague.

Yeah, it is rare, which is the key :).

The people on CNN have made it sound like the plague has hit the US and we're all going to get the disease. Kind of like the anthrax scare. Two weeks and it's out of the news.

Sounds like the meningococcal thing here - the death rate hasn't changed much over the last couple of years, but because it's pretty horrific in terms of who it hits (young healthy people) and how quickly it attacks people, the media lap it up - the new ebola virus for the new century!

So the disease carrying insects belong with a people already sufferring under an aids epidemic?

You may want to rethink your position or consider better material if that's a joke.

No need to worry, unless you either have AIDS or have an EXTREMLEY weak immune system. The statistics say that healthy, grown people are able to shake it off.

You may also, if that was suppose to be a joke. He's just saying, West Nile, the Nile, they should be together.

Yeah, but look at his age... 67

I'm not saying that all 67 year olds are weak, I saw some 88 year old dude who was in better shape than most 60 year olds, but still... Also, remember the odds of actually getting it. And the doctors also say that a person of good health is able to shake it off pretty easily.

yeah and just this past weekend a girl (15) who lives a block down the street from me got put in the hospital for it, but she is back in school now.

I don't think I have much to worry about here in Montana...., but those darn Hobo Spiders (also known as the Agressive House Spider) are everywhere. They class the Hobo with other venomous spiders such as the Black Widow and the Brown Recluse.
