We've had used cars... what about used car parts?

Hi folks :)

Before someone says it, no I DON'T mean wheel rims, by the way, I was thinking more of turbos, exhausts, and the like.

Imagine racing, with a second hand exhaust that could give out on you at any time! Or tyres that are already worn... an engine that has seen better days, and blows out smoke if you race it too hard!

(And just for fun, the part equivalent, of the black LMP's; something very nice and not available anywhere else in the game, turning up once in a while...)

Sega GT 2002 played around with this idea... but I'd like to think GT5 could realize it a whole lot better...

It'd add an extra element of challenge to things too... and if the AI's the same as GT4, it might NEED it... *grins*

Racing with worn parts to see at what point my car poops out? Er... I think not.

It's not a dumb idea, but it could have been posed a scouche better. But really, if they're available in GT5, I won't be buying anything less than "like new condition." And this is assuming that Kazunori-san implements Career Mode, when I'm starting out as a kid with big dreams but a short wallet. A premise like that makes sense, offering used performance upgrades to save cost. Along with that is the notion I posed in another thread about modded used cars available on the used market. Those performance parts will have seen some wear. Hopefully NOT to the extent you propose though. Your car sounds like it needs maintenance before it can even make it to the track! :D

Interesting idea. Let's see if Kaz likes it.

It could work, but really how many people use used parts in real life? Unless its suspesnion or something. I don't think you would find used engine parts.

But it might add a twist to the game.

Used parts? Hell, I know a whole bunch of guys running on nothing but secondhand engines, turbos and trannies doing 11's and 13's at the dragstrip. Secondhand parts basically run the Import Tuning industry outside of Japan. If PD factored in lower possible hp, overheating and a % chance of breaking down, it would be fun.

I don't see it happening, though. :(

No body used the used parts in Sega GT2002 either because they realized that they would break in the middle of a race and you would put the controller through the TV.
