What a mistake, but now I'm back.

Hi All

I just want to shout out loud my appreciation for GT5P and my excitement for GT5. I am ashamed to say I deserted my PS3 for an Xbox 360 as Forza 3 promised so much (well the makers promised so much) and delivered so short of the promise. Don't get me wrong, Forza 3 delivered in some areas but to have a game where I couldn't even select quick race and then choose how many laps I wanted and on what difficulty drove me bonkers. I could of course do that in a private gaming lobby which meant to do that I needed xbox live gold so needed to pay Microsoft some money to do it.

Anyway I can't say how good it feels to come home when you've been away because foolishly you thought the grass was greener elsewhere. I have now been playing GT5P for a few days and can only marvel at what this early game has achieved in comparison to Forza 3 when Forza 3 had so much time as an advantage.

I'll shut up now and try and act like the 33 years of age I am rather than a kid who's just got what he wanted for Christmas.

same here, i myself got an XBOX 360 while waiting for more good games to come out for PS3. And Forza 3 is the one that drove me away. They make all the good feature available to Gold users only, it's like 60 bucks for the games is not enuf, they want us to spend more on XBOX Live. And i can say i make a good decision, GT5P somehow wowed me more than Forza 3 did.

I actually went the opposite way. I've had an XBOX 360 since Forza 1. I got Forza 2, and a wheel, and my XBOX died (first time of 2 thus far). I sold my wheel, and got my XBOX fixed much later. After I got Forza 3, I was tired of not having a decently priced wheel with 900 degree rotation, and racing games are pretty much my only hobby now. I could get a Fanatec, for 350... or I could buy a PS3, GT5:P, and a DF:GT for around the same price. I have to say I am very, VERY happy I did. Not only that, I got a Blu-ray player along with it for the same price.
Overall, I love my PS3 more than my 360, and I've had the 360 for 5-6 times as long. Someday I'll have the money for an Obutto seat and G27, but for now, I'm loving my sim racing experience.

Reading these posts make me feel so warm all inside of me...:embarrassed:

I almost gave in to the temptation of the X and the Za3...

... I am glad i didn't.

I am sure i would have enjoyed it very much ... but I have a feeling that it wouldn't have lasted that long either... maybe it's my prejudice on this game...

but for sure i wouldn't be happy, feeling that have have been ripped off... cheated and used...

Thank God...

Welcome Back to GT(P) ... the forum of those in pain for GT5, (instead of in pain because of FM3)

I feel much the same as I was once on the fence about buying Forza3 and hooking up my old MS Wheel again but after a review from "Inside Sim Racing" I took the plunge and as fun as it was something was missing and my skills were deteriorating from playing with Forza3's late braking forgiving physics even with all aids off. Switching back to my G25 utilizing my clutching, heel toeing, left foot braking in GT5P and heel and toeing and clutching for the heck of it in GT5 Time Trial demo, finally my skills were coming back and I was becoming a better driver and learning something new everytime I cut thousandths of a second off my lap.
Thank you GT for making me a better driver in real life

For me, it was the MS wheel that did it. I think F3 is a great game and lots of fun to play, but the MS wheel is a big dissapointment- especially the pedals, since I'm used to the sturdy ones on the G25. If I already had a compatible Fanatec wheel I could see myself paying for Live and playing F3 a good bit, at least until GT5 is released. :)

You are not alone.

after all the things heard from Fm3 and the not appering gt5,and months of not decided whether i should or not, I decided in january to buy also the much acclaimed Fm3 with an used xbox arcarde (3 months old). Well needless to say: very dissappointing.

i don't even understand why it is compared to GT.

at maximum it can be taken for a good NFS:Shift. it's a fun game, a good nfs like it wanted since porsche unleashed and hotpursuit. I play it with the pad 'cause i don't think i will enjoy it so much more to justify to buy a second wheel for just the xbox since i got a g25.
And yeah Live is a bitch. I can't even download my free dlc (Is that right??). No recharg-battery, no wifi, no full hdmi,... the xbox is **** in comparaison to the PS.
At least i didn't contribuated to the selling statistics and bought it for 80 € with the bundeled games. And after finishing FM I probably will sell it again ( but not sure yet, as it is pretty cool to got 2 consoles :P)
