With the whole corner cutting thing, Sony is now in a very tight spot.

-They did not outline in the rules that you cannot cut the track in any rounds other than round 4.

-The game does not DQ you for cutting at Indy.

-How can Sony clear the leader boards if some people who posted times cannot make it to their PS3 to post times again this week, and broke no written rule yet got their lap reset?

Well if they really couldn't figure out a way, they could always go with "systems malfunction" like the military's "training exercise".

There are no issues on the game's side legally. It says in the rules that it's the best combined time recorded by the software. Unfortunately nowhere does it state you had to stay on the track, or the software was worth anything.

All they need to do is make the correction with full disclosure through the event notice page, mass email all contestants that made the 1st round cut and then clear the boards. If a contestant was sent notice and failed to run another qualifying run thats their loss. I think that would be sufficient. The only other thing I can think of is extending the deadline for the days lost from the time of the correction.

I believe sony wants to rely on the game as is, otherwise reviewing would become subjective. However, in these instances it is not subjective.

I am sure there is a clause somewhere that states any part of the competition maybe substituted or changed. Hopefully.

I would imagine this to be true. Lets sure hope that: A) It is true, and B) they decide to do something about it.

I have a feeling that until Round 4, this is how it's going to be. Personally though, I did try the shortcut (but restarted my lap right before finish line). The lap was slow, and the time was 1:48~ on my screen paused about 10 feet from the finish line. Not sure how I feel about this but will probably revisit this track later in the week. Focusing on Toscana for now.
