What are the best cars for each event/ race?

That's a tough call, as what some may call "the Best" are certainly not what other would.

My suggestion, is that you type the race in the search bar, and look for answers that way. Or perhaps even post a race that you're having trouble with looking for help.

I'd go with him; just search for a certain race. Personally, I like having cars like the Sauber Mercedes or the AMG Mercedes Race car ('98)...They're fun to drive :D and really fast.

What are the best cars for each event/ race? I've looked every where to find the answer :nervous: :grumpy: :ouch:
How about actually trying them out?

GT4 is not worth jamming through to get 100%. There are no secret weapons with unlimited ammo. There is no bazillion-credit bonus. You don't get access to the hidden online mode.

The pleasure in playing a GT game is in actually playing it. If you won't want to run some series many many times, with different cars and different strategies, just for the sheer fun of it, then there's really not much point in playing the game at all.

So instead of looking for a walkthrough, get out on the course and DRIVE. Who cares if your win ratio is not 100%? Mine is usually about 55-60%, because I lose races and quit races all the time, trying different cars against different fields. If experimenting with technique and driving to learn about the cars are not fun for their own sake, then I respectfully suggest that GT4 is not the game for you.

Last, but not least, don't you think it's a little much to ask that we sort through 700+ cars and a hundred or more series and list them all for you?

i agree with Duke completely, the best car for a race is the one you find most entertaining to drive without making the race ludicrously easy but not ludicrously hard either, for instance i plan on using the black 787b race car for the 24 hour Sarthe I race this weekend (driving it from start to finish only stopping for food and bodily functions) although its more then ample to match the competition i plan on adding a weight ballast to give myself a challenge, just find the kind of cars you like to drive and use them :)
happy racing :)

Best
1. of the highest quality, excellence, or standing
2. most advantageous, suitable, or desirable
3. largest; most
4. most excellently or suitably; with most advantage or success

Going by these definitions of best from dictionary.com then you would have to say that the best car for most of the series is the Formula GT (where it is elligible). Overuse of the FGT will, however, give you the worst GT4 experience (imho). Other cars that fit this very limited interpretation of best could include:
Toyota 88C-V
Audi Le Mans Quattro
Suzuki GSX-R/4 Concept
Tommy Kaira ZZII
Shelby Cobra 427
RUF CTR Yellow Bird
Dodge Viper SRT10
Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car
Lotus Elise Motorsport Elise
RUF CTR2
Toyota RSC Rally Raid Car

The above could be used for easy (very boring) wins in most of the game.

For the best racing experience have a read of the Club 200 thread in my sig or join the WRS.

Q. Why do all of these "what is the best car for..." threads never say best for what (easy wins, fun, close racing, a-spec, etc.). I suppose they all mean best for an easy win but why, who cares? There are usually at least a handful of cars that can win easily with one arm tied behind your back and you don't need a degree in astrophysics to work out what they are (unless you are some peasant from the middle of nowhere whose closest encounter with technology is seeing those strange silver birds).

At least some background info would be nice - these threads are always one liners and never give any context for the question. They totally 🤬 me off. I think I will just have to avoid ever opening any thread with this sort of title as I am always disappointed.
End Rant

That's a great post Moloch_horridus 👍

As he said, sometimes the definition of best depends on what you're really looking for.
To me the best car for any event is one that involves a challenging race, where you're never quite sure if you'll win or not. :nervous:

To others the best car is the one with which you can win the most races with the least amount of worry by blowing away the competition.
Some people want 1 or 2 killer cars and will do whatever it takes to save the resources to buy or create an all-round race thrasher.

There are no rules as to how you want to complete GT4.
Some people want maximum A-spec points.
Others want quickest completion.
Still more want maximum B-spec points.
There is no right or wrong way to play GT4. :D

Do whatever suits your style, and most of all, try to enjoy the driving experience that GT4 offers. 👍

The beauty of the manufacturer and restricted-entry events is that you have to sample at least a small portion of the diversity of automotive history that GT4 offers.

Personally I view the fact that GT4 has over 700 cars as an invitation to drive each and every one to it's limit, whether tuned or untuned, be it a 7 minute lap of Tsukuba in a 1HP Daimler Motorcarriage or a 5 minute lap of Nurburgring in a fully tuned race monster!
Not everyone is me though. I have my own unique opinions & strategies. These are definitely not to everyone's taste, and nor do I expect everyone to play the way that I do. You'd have to be clinically insane or just me (there's not much difference! :P) to enjoy the elations and frustrations I've got from this game.
You are you. Only you know what you want, what your limits are, your goals, and how far you want to push the envelope to achieve whatever it is that you personally will accept as success.

Now get out there and enjoy it! ;)

The 787B Is a great race car, it's fast, decent handling......but it's one of the classic tire-eaters. It's in the same class as the Minolta 88C-V and the Sauber C9, R92CP etc. But it's an all-around great car. I believe it's 3.5 million.

This is good information, but due to the unspecific nature of the original question, it's not technically correct as an answer here.

What I mean is that while the Mazda 787B is a phenomenal race car, it can't be described as the best car for every event.
Try entering it in the Beginner Hall FF challenge. No can do, it's MR!
Try entering it in 1000 Miles! Again, no can do, it's not from 1970 or earlier!
Try entering it in Race of the Red "R" Emblem. It's not a Nissan Skyline, so it doesn't fit!

For the GTWC or Fuji 1000km races, for example, it's a great fit.
But in order to answer the original post's question properly, you'd have to consider what was the best entry for each of 522 races inside GT4. That's a lot of information to request, especially as has been highlighted before, with a vague and woolly term like "best".

Sorry. Well, for the Beginner races, good cars for that are:

Sunday Cup: Any good cheap car will do for that
FF Challenge: Honda S2000
FR Challenge: TVR Griffith 500
4WD Challenge: Nissan Skyline or Mitsubishi 3000GT would be a great choice
MR Challenge: Toyota MR2 Is a great car for beating this
Lightweight Cup: Any car less than the weight limit will work fine
Spider and Roadster: TVR Griffith 500
Sport Truck Race: Chevy SSR

Professional Events:
Clubman Cup: Any Decent Car that'll get the job done (IMO Subaru WRX, Skyline etc.)
Tuning Car: " "
NA Sports: " " A decent car that has NA tuning done to it
Turbo sports: " " Has to have Turbo upgrade
Boxer Spirit: Subaru Impreza WRX
World Classic Car Series: Nice Fast car 1970 or older
World Compact: Good fast car that's less than 4000mm long
Supercar Festival: Ford GT
Gran Turismo World Championship: Audi R8, Bentley Speed 8, Pescarolo etc.

Extreme Events:
Gran Turismo All-Stars: " "
Dream Car Championship: " " You have to have an S license though to Drive A-spec
Polyphony Digital Cup: " "
Like the Wind: " "
Formula GT: My suggestion would be the F1, but any LM would do as well
Real Circuit Tours: BMW V12 LMR, Bentley Speed 8 etc.
Premium Sports Lounge: Mercedes McLaren, Ford GT

Any of the endurances: Any of the LM cars will do just fine
Now remember, this is just based on opinion. Those in my opinion are the best cars to use for each event/race.

That's a much better answer VGCaged_Emaxx! +rep for that.

Just one minor quibble though, the Honda S2000 cannot enter the FF events since it has an FR drivetrain. ;) A Honda Prelude or Civic should do the job though.

Beginner races, good cars for that are:

FF Challenge: Honda S2000 - I used a heavily modded Mirage Cyborg, because that's what i had.
FR Challenge: TVR Griffith 500 - I used a standard FPV Falcon GT and a heavily modded AE86 Corolla Levin.
4WD Challenge: Nissan Skyline or Mitsubishi 3000GT would be a great choice - standard Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R did it easily.

Professional Events:
Boxer Spirit: Subaru Impreza WRX - I used a standard WRX and came dead last in every race. I guess i need to try harder.
World Classic Car Series: Nice Fast car 1970 or older - I used a standard 1970 Skyline GT-R and that was good enough for second. I'm going to try ita again in a '69 Camaro SS 350.
World Compact: - Modded Mirage again, did it easily.

Now remember, this is just based on opinion. Those in my opinion are the best cars to use for each event/race.

I believe he was adding his own comments in alongside your original thoughts. I'll highlight them to make it more clear...

Thanks Famine, that's what i was trying to do, but it didn't work out how i planned. Perhaps I should have used reply instead of quote?

Sorry for the confusion, VGCaged. :)
