State Cows' first album was pretty solid IMO.

Gonna try out the first two albums by The New Pornographers, 2000's Mass Romantic and 2003's Electric Version.



[EDIT] Mass Romantic has good songs but I'm not fond of John Collins's and David Carswell's production so far. Sounds a bit choked off in the midrange to me. It'd probably sound better loud.

To me, production-wise and compostionally this pair are the missing link between Bacharach & David and Abba as you can probably tell from the dates.

[EDIT] OK, I guess there's a lot of Pet Sounds in there too.
