What car for 24 hours?

I am so temped to start the 24 hours at Nurburgring. i was wondering what car to use, what tires and what pace to set it at. I would love to get the race done so i can get one of the beautiful f-1 cars.

i sent in the minolta in the hands of the stig (the b-spec dude) i'm sure that this must have been discussed somewere before. if not great idea its a good question!

If you want to race it, enter any low BHP (300-400) race car. A good suggestion is one of the DTM cars or a lightly modified (Stage 1 Turbo, for example) GT300 car. If you want to B-Spec it, the Chaparal 2D is most likely the best for your needs.

I used my Nissan R92CP with my B-Spec driver with super hards on the rear with hards on the back pits every 3 laps on medium pace (3) won by over 10 laps

I sent out mr. B-speccer with a jag xj220 race car. (no idea where I got it, it was just in the garage). Probably RM/RH. Pit every 6 laps I think.

As you're going to be using Bspec, it doesn't really matter does it? Just send him out in your fastest car.

Either that ^ or you can A-Spec it ;), seriously, it's the 'Ring, who can you get bored there?

Ciao!

I don't want to a-spec it because i don't want to play for 24 hours. And I could send b-spec out in my fastest car but I don't want him to spin out every corner. Also I have a ps2 slim so i don't know if I should atempt it.

The Zonda LM car was the one I did...Its blasts of fun when you want to race and very good in the hands of B-spec Bob..

My slim PSTwo was on for 468 hours straight during the La Sarthe II 24hr race - and a similar length of time, if a little shorter, for the other two 24hr races. Don't worry about it - so long as there's good air circulation round the whole console.

Yep, if you want to B-spec it the Zonda will win it easily, even at pace 1. And as already said, it's a blast if you want to take the odd stint yourself.

Again, agreed - with decent ventilation you should be fine. In B-spec your PS2 only needs to be on for about 25 hrs max (without using 3x speed, using that you can get it down to about 9 hrs).

And yeah, I know I should probably A-spec it - and maybe I will one day. But even at the 'ring I can't stomach 24 hours at the same track without a change :yuck:

Ok thanks. Because I was a bit worried because I have heard about the ps2 slim overheating and frying. But I can just open a window all night and let b-spec bob race. And i tryed about 20 minutes of the race in my 747b and on pace 2 and overtake i was ahead by around 2-3 minutes on lap 2! So i was thinking that that might be a posible car I would use.

i used my completely unmodified AMG Mercedes 190 E 2.5 16 Evo II Touring Car '92 which has 401HP and the tires that came on it. i pitted every other lap. it was way too much car! use something less than 400HP. i won by 10 laps.

I have a ps2 slim so i don't know if I should atempt it.

i used my PS2 slim in A-spec and it took nearly 2 weeks and it sits on the carpet floor, so you don't really need to worry about it.

**i just reread some the posts, and i can't believe the cars that are being suggested! the Zonda has 694HP, the Jag XJ220 has 578, the Minolta has 965, and the Nissan R92 has 1001! why in the world would you want to use cars like that? and how in the world can you only win by 10 laps in the Nissan R92?!?**

@Oldfrogmorton: I said OVER 10 laps its been so long that I can't remember and also I tried to keep the HP down. Thoughout the race down the long back straight when i was doing my stint the car would spin out uncontrollably losing me heaps of time. Yes I agree it was overkill but it was my first attempt at the Nurburgring 24hr and I just wanted to win the race

I wanted to use a merc CLK-AMG (touring car), probably still a little overkill, but bspec couldn't hold off one of the audis. Probably could've won easily in a-spec in that car (I absolutely love touring cars)

Now that you've "won" it the easy way, at some point do yourself a favour and drive the race yourself. Not immediately, obviously, you'll be wanting to get out there and have a go in your Formula GT, but eventually for the pleasure of driving the 'ring for a prolonged period, it's just something you have to do if you want to truly live up to your username of theGT4masta! :P

Choose something competetive, not a walkover, and go at it!
Myself I ran a stock Renault 5 Maxi Turbo Rally Car '85 (350HP) for 138 A-spec points. (Clicky the sky blue link in my signature, there's a race report for all 24hrs on page 4 of my endurance thread 👍 )
I fully plan to go back and get all 200 points at some point too! :D

Yep, I said no to B-Spec long time ago. Did the 24hr Nurburgring for 200 pts in 5 days (slim line PS2 no problems).
Just today I started 24hr Sarthe I.
2 hours done, one minute behind leaders but catching up :-)

Hey, it just a name but i am pretty good but there are people that are way better than me! And I used an overkill car because its my first 24 hour race and i didn't want to race for 24 hours and lose. And hey im only 13 years old.

Don't get me wrong, you're not the first, and certainly won't be the last to do it this way, and there's nothing wrong with it. It achieved the win, got you cash & an magnificent prizecar in return, but for your own true satisfaction, you owe it to yourself, however old you may be, to experience this stunning race in its entirety from the best place possible, i.e. in the driving seat! :D
As I said, it may be a while before you're ready for the challenge, GT4 is a huge game, but before you lay the game to rest and move on to others, grant yourself this racing experience, accept the challenge, and if you use a car that's competetive in your hands, since you're probably a better driver than your B-spec guy who needs all the help he can get ;), you'll have a far more thrilling time! :D
Enjoy! 👍

I don't think the Ring can really ever get old. I've been racing there in Arcade mode for the last week. Still haven't mastered it and it's a blast. The track never runs out of suprises. Maybe I should try the 24 hr. (and, for that matter, the 4 hr, I B-specced that one too:guilty: )

Definitely do the 4hr first. 👍
PM me if you want some good info and suggestions for a car to run here for a good close race with high A-spec points!
