Since the latest update was announced and launched 9 days into the month, maybe you are safe for another week. Then again, this may be the time to just pick a controller and go. The feedback has been fantastic in the Lamborghini and Porsche races.

UPDATE @ShavedBadger I wasn't far off, as of today 20/09 the Road to Race tour will end in 6 days.
Managed to fix my pedals so I've been working through this - did the Lambo and Porsche roadcars yesterday. And I'd like to comment on what a pig the standard Huracan is around a racetrack. Just relentless understeer everywhere. I eventually "fixed" it by stripping all the weight out and doing a RWD conversion + aero, but I hated driving that thing standard.

The 911 GT3RS is an absolute peach though.

Ah, yes, I have a RWD Supperlegera Huracan of my own!

Finally finished the Road to Race series - that last race in the 911 GT3R at the Nordschleife was intense! I wound up passing the leader in a C7 'vette around the outside under the bridge at the end of the Dottinger Hohe after I just managed to get onto the back of his slipstream coming onto the straight. Really had to get the elbows out to go from twelfth to first though.

The practice lap at dawn was great fun too.

Edit: Just had to add - I know this game is rough around the edges but sometimes it's the little details in it that really impress me. Following the (fourth or fifth-placed Corvette ahead of me, I couldn't help but notice it get air under its inside front tyre as it tipped into the Karussel, just like I'd seen countless times in real-life photos and videos. Very cool!

Finally completed the last featured championship before it gets erased tomorrow. Was a long, boring slog but eventually obtained the Vantage GTE. I hope and pray we don't get such a long, tedious championship again.... Or if we do, to at least hand out upon completion 2 or 3 cars.

I really liked the 2014 Huracan. Very balanced and a joy to drive. On the other hand, was rather disappointed with the Vantage GTE. It sometimes just felt..... unresponsive, somehow.
Thought the racing 911 was a fabulous car, likewise.

See I felt the opposite about the Vantage - throwing it into turn one at Road Atlanta in the middle of third gear, and rolling onto the power, feeling it stick and hearing that V8... yeah I really like that car. And I like that it has it's own distinct feel within the GT class.

I do have a tune for the GTE (AM GTE R Atlanta) that you may like. The main thing with Atlanta is that you will have to ride over those curbs, and here I aim for better bump absorption and responsiveness with a touch of more downforce. Also, the anti-dive settings values are 0 or as close to 0 as possible because I really need to feel how the weight shifts when braking and if there is any oversteer to correct.

I'd be a little careful with the downforce as I found I struggled to stay with some cars on the long back straight, particularly the Audi R8.

Thanks but I'm not really a tuning kind of guy. Too finicky for my liking. I'm even quite averse to upgrading cars 🤣

You're right when you say it has a distinct feel within the GT class. I definitely felt it's unique handling characteristics. Perhaps it's an acquired taste? 😄 Think I also prefer cars that understeer rather than oversteer.

Just an observation that as you've been a member nearly as long as I have, you do know how to quote multiple posts rather than reply to each one separately by double posting. ;)

As for the GTE, I thought it was OK but it didn't grab me on that race. Although after driving 32 races just to get the damn thing, I may just have been bored to death by the time i drove it

Yeah, a bit lazy on my part. I don't post that often but it's only been relatively recently that I've learned to use the "quote" and "insert quotes" function. Always just used to hit reply as it seemed the most logical.

I kind of felt the same after 32 races. I was probably expecting something miraculous considering the amount of work it took to obtain the bloody thing 🤣

Ran the first 3 Open Class events tonight. I don't have a theme for this Series, just random picks:
  • D Class: Dodge Dart GT
  • C Class: Lynk & Co 03+
  • B Class: BMW M2 '23

For the Open Class events I have done:
  • C: 1990 MX-5 Miata which placed 3rd overall. It probably needs more top speed, so I will upgrade to B-class in the future.
  • B: 2011 BMW Series 1 M at first place. It's one of my favorite cars and IMO a nearly timeless classic.
  • A: 2023 BMW M2, also at first place. It's a swift and oddly compelling car, considering BMW's styling these days.

For S-class I will use the 2003 Porsche Carrera GT which I'm not using for the Mid-engine Tour.

Today I switched to simulation steering using the gamepad and I'm loving it because it is more responsive on-center but not twitchy as I feared it would. You really only have to be careful with your counter steering inputs because the assists are off and there is no compensation now.

Did the first of the mid-engine series yesterday with the 458 Speciale and damn, what a car! Left it stock and loved running down the F8s and so on, especially around the Nurburgring and Road Atlanta. The brakes and turn-in are just brilliant!

Now I'm torn as to what to choose for the legends series. Do I take my all-time favourite, the F50, or do I have a crack with the McLaren. Or maybe the lag-tastic F40...

Finished 2nd overall in the Miracles (if that's what it's called) challenge. Should have went with my gut and used the Porsche 918 I already had but noooooo I had to go with the McLaren 765 which I ended up ****ing hating. I felt lucky to finish 2nd since the T50's just dominated. They were 4 to 5 seconds ahead of target time in practice. Won the rewards race but I'm not impressed with the Artura either.

I'm racing the Dodge #9 C for the R-series of the Open Tour, and with simulation steering is downright scary. Still, it conquered Laguna Seca and all its bumps.

I was stupid enough to buy a Ferrari SF90 Stradale for this race. Total waste of credits as it was too heavy to turn quickly even with the grippiest tune. I went back to the McLaren P1 I had in the garage which suited my driving style a lot better.

I came to the conclusion that the LT in 765 LT stands for "Like Turd" when driving it stock. Although I took the advice of someone on the other thread and first upgrade was Weight Reduction which made it handle much better.

Did a bunch of GT2 online races over the weekend with mixed results. Had an absolute cracker at Nurb GP with the 2018 911 GT3RSR that I almost won on tire strategy but ultimately had to settle for 4th, some very good back and forth passing at Hockenheim for 6th-7th place which was incredibly enjoyable. And then I decided to use the Vantage GTE after reaching level 50 with the Porsche, and it all fell apart, I simply couldn't get the thing to do anything I wanted. Had an absolute horrid race at Grand Oak where all I could do was understeer everywhere and basically finished last of the running finishers. Then had okay races at Laguna Seca and Road America, but man that Vantage is not fun to drive. Might try the Viper as it seems to be the car most front runners are using, but then again the lobbies are switching in 2 days so I might not bother.

I earned the Huracan EVO yesterday, and it's simultaneously not good and a hoot. The base car is not fit for track because it's a pig that weighs around 1,800 kg and will slide under heavy braking, but you can use the AWD to catch it and have very fun sliding, especially with simulation steering (just not competitive driving).

I finally earned the McLaren Artura last night and is quite nice, and much better at the track in stock form than the EVO. I love there is a choice of two factory wings.

I downloaded the Exocet A-Class tune @RPM Bibblefish made and completely destroyed everyone in the multi-class lobbies. I think I won like, 9 races today, highlight of which was a wet night race at the Nurburgring GP where I was 4 seconds a lap faster than the S-class cars. What an absolute weapon.

Bought a Saleen S1 '18 and earnt 30,000 credits by completing the single player targets. I then proceeded to blow them all on buying car points to upgrade it to the top of A class where it still didn't exactly dominate the competition.
