I won a PSP a couple of years ago at a golf day.

It's still in the box.

What would I need in addition to the game to play GT on it (memory card/size? extra battery packs, charger etc?)

Cheers,
Chris

A PSP (which should have a battery and a charger in the box), GT PSP (obviously) and a memory stick pro duo.

If you get the UMD version, you only need 256kb of space on the memory stick (The game should work without the stick, but you won't be able to save). If you download it from the Playstation Network, you'll need to get a 2GB memory stick.

Even with the UMD version, I would advise to get a 2GB card too. You can install the game's data (all 1GB of it) on Memory Stick and that will dramatically improve the loading times. 👍

Let me expound upon that further. If you like to stop and make lunch while your game loads don't bother with the 2gb stick, but if you like to play your game in something that can be considered a reasonable time frame for a human to wait go for the memory stick.

IIRC Best Buy has the 4gb on sale for 19.99 right now, which is the same as newegg when I looked.

^While this statement makes me wanna jump through my computer screen and punch you, I'll still help.
You'll need your PSP, charger, and the game. However, if you want quick load times, get a 2gb memory stick, and you can install the game.

While you're at it, pick up some good games along with GT. Motorstorm, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, and Crisis Core are all fantastic games.

You know some people that like Gran Turismo are just sport enthusiast and not hard core gamers. Maybe he rather spend his time golfing or watching Nascar then playing Crisis Core which probably wouldn't make much sense to many casual gamers. Or hell maybe he's just not a portable gamer. I know people who play games and own a xbox or ps3 that doesn't have a portable one. Why would they? They have HD tvs.

My taste in games is narrow... I've owned all the versions of GT (1 thorugh 5P) and a few other driving games (F1's, WRC 1 & 2, CMR 1 & 2, Ferrari Challenge, NFS Shift) as that's what I'm in to. Though I did play Super Mario Galaxy through to the end on the Wii (very enjoyable).

I'm off to Spain for 6 days of golf and drinking next week and I thought a bit of GT on the PSP might be a good way of filling in some down time.

Thanks to all for the advice... I'll just get the biggest/fastest memory card I can find.

By the way, how long does the battery last between charges?

Alright, very understandable. There are a bunch of driving games on PSP, but none that are really up to Gran Turismo-caliber, in terms of realism.

And your battery level depends on a variety of things, but with GTPSP, if you turn Wi-Fi off and have it at the lowest brightness setting, you can get 4-5 hours out of it.

What about Toca 2 and 3?

Maybe not as much of a 'sim' but still great racers with fantastic physics.

I think you need to make sure (as Daan said) that it says Pro Duo. Otherwise, from experience, the card won't work.

Bah i only have a 256MB memory stick (and its got loads of other crap on it, only about 12MB free)

I'm glad i didn't buy the game now lol

Thanks for the help... sorted now :)

Picked the game up yesterday along with a 2GB stick... installed the software upgrade and then installed the the game on the stick (which took almost 20 minutes!).

Now up and running and quite enjoying it... spent an hour and a half getting golds on the A, B, C driving tests... took a while to get used to driving without a wheel! Going to go for all golds before I do anything else, whihc is something I've always wanted to do with a GT game.
