What do I need to view .AVI movies?

Quicktime or windows media player won't play .AVI clips. What program do I need to view them?

use avi-preview, its normaly ment for viewing kazaa .dat partial movies but it doesnt use any codecs (i think) but it wil work fine for .avi files

I'd use DivX if I were you (http://www.divx.com/divx/)

But the latest windows media player also plays them. So do Winamp3 and real player.

From time to time you might get some .avi files which won't work (for example : no sound, wrong colors, ...) and then you just need to get the right codec somewhere.

Is it that it won't play ANY .avi files, or specific ones? If it's specific ones, then it's probably their compression and what people used to compress them and save them. Most divX files are saved as .avi, so I would suggest downloading the DivX plugin.
