What do you love most about GT?

I just posted in the "what do you hate most" thread, but it made me think lovely thoughts and I wanted to make a thread of appreciation.

The thing I love most about GT is that the games are made by a man who is 100% passionate, and completely dedicated to creating something that lives up to his vision. Rather than a money-grabbing corporation, this is a game that is being created from the heart - PD has grown massively, but as far as I can tell, Kaz has retained complete control of his baby. They do whatever they want to make this the way they want it, and although sometimes it's annoying when they miss their christmas release date or whatever, I am happy that Kaz still holds this much power to operate the way he wants, rather than greedy bean-counters who only care about one thing calling the shots. Far too much of the world is run like that, and it's rare to find such a company that has grown so massive but still able to hold true to it's values.

Despite the various things I hate about current GT's, I am VERY hopeful, because I think Kaz' vision is just as ambitious as any of ours, and lord knows he loves cars, and is probably the hardest working 'puter games maker the world has ever seen. Most of what I don't like, I know he's already working on it while I sleep!

I cant point anything out, its just the whole package, the style, from the jazzy menu music to the little details on the cars. It also teached me a lot about car history and different models.

Its more than just a game for me thats for sure.

The polyphony touch, their class, their passion. You can feel all that in the stuff they release... at least, I do. :-)

How about the fact you get exposed to cars you've never heard of? GT get me interested in cars in the first place.

Most? Hmm...I like the photos of the cars in the "screen saver". When they show them in different locations. They look pretty cool.

I could spend ages typing what I love about GT but one word to sum it up would be perfection.

With some titles you need to read the reviews before purchasing even with big titles such as COD or Halo or GTA. However with GT5 you just know that we shall recieve a game that has been created by passionate perfectionists.

Look at it this way I have spent a fortune in preparation of GT5 and this is despite knowing very little about the game.

My favorite part is online racing. Racing against the AI is generally pretty easy and boring, but when you throw in human error, a race suddenly turns into destruction derby. I can easily spend hours racing online.

GT was the first game I played on PS and after that, love for the cars has started and is growing with every GT I play...
GT is the only game where, when I'm playing it, I can feel that dev's made this game with passion...

I feel you on the music and the meticulousness of the Kaz, but i do miss those informational captions they used to have in GT1(maybe GT2).

For me, GT is like those toys you had as a kid and you keep the rest of your life, cuz i was like 10 when GT came out so i grew up with it, and because of it, since the other kids found it too hard,my taste in games matured.

Furthermore id like to retract any use of the word HATE i might have used in reference to anything GT, what i meant to say was those things could be improved.

The presentation. My Page is a perfect example, the way it depicts your car in front of exotic locations. It's is the only game I've ever played that actually makes buying a car feel important. Even the design of the menus and the music is really well done. Cars I normally couldn't care less about I'm actually interested in when I play GT.

Its really hard for me to say exactly, there is this overall vibe that I just don't get from any other game. The Presentation, the cars I've never been exposed to, the calming music in the menus, the immense detail in both the visuals & sounds, just the way GT has it is just truly mesmerizing and no matter what other Driving/racing games I play or antipate, in the end none of them will compell me to play as much as GT will.

GT is more than a game to me, because I grew up with it. I remember getting a PSX for Christmas with GT1 and it's all I played and same with GT2 when it came out. It was just such a different scope of a game compared to any other racing game. Then GT3 with the PS2 followed by GT4.

Not to turn this into a GT fanboy thread but, what a lot of people who I talk to who are fans of the Forza series don't understand is that, unlike Forza (for me), is that I grew up with GT - literally. I'm 18 now and I've always seen GT as a different gaming series to everything. For me its unconditional love - not entirely based on nostalgia but, just a love for the series. If they honestly made GT5 the same as GT4 with better graphics I'd still play it.

Gran Turismo made me. GT is the only reason I give a damn about cars, and now' i'm a complete car fanatic. I'm only 12 and I have every GT ever made. I only wish that I can race for real, go to the top, and say " I'd be at home washing dishes right now if I never played Gran Turismo.", but racing isn't a cheap sport.

GT is all about the cars and...something, to drive on. I'm not trying to be a smart ass.

Same here, most of what I know about cars in general came from Gran Turismo. Its what got me into japanese cars. I've always liked how it's always been more realistic than any other car games ive played.

Everything. Everything just fits together to make it magical, right down to the menu fonts and the music. There is so much passion and love infused into this game... I see something with a GT logo on, and instantly it just screams "quality".

I also love the way Kaz actually loves cars, and a human wanted to create this game, rather than some faceless billionaire who doesn't actually give a damn about it.

Although, the biggest thing would be just the game itself. Being fifteen years of age, I, obviously, cannot get a driving license yet. However, combined with a Driving Force Pro (soon to be DFGT), with its force feedback and 900 degree rotation, GT gives me an outlet for my pure automotive passion. It's the closest I can get to driving for real, and it's just great.

I like all of the above except the music. I turned that crap off. Sometimes I like to race, and I just listen to the engines. But sometimes I like to race and listen to some music. So here is to hoping that GT5 supports custom soundtracks.

GT is a reference since the GT1 until now, its the best game serie ever made in car games, and we know that when you buy a GT you have guaranteed fun for several years.

What do I love most about GT:

👍 Drive cars that have only imagined in dreams.

👍 A true car encyclopedia.

👍 Tons of cars and setups. (Japan, Europe, US, Tuner . . .)

👍 The real car simulator (not arcade).

👍 Excellent tracks real and imaginary.

👍 Great dynamic.

:D

Haha I was referring to the menu music. The in-race soundtrack was great in GT1 and GT2, but since then it's gone downhill, especially with GT5P. I'm with you on having custom soundtracks.

The different types of racing we get to do! And now they are expanding types (WRC@ NASCAR) and there could be more!:sly:👍

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, Codemasters signed the contract for the recent F1 season now whether that was the previous season or current i don't know.Anyway that shouldn't stop PD making an add on F1 game of seasons from 20 or 30 odd years ago.It shouldn't stop them making it because the rules of F1 back then don't conform to the current season. Here's hoping it's in the game.

What do I love about the GT series? hmm well I firstly have to thank Kaz for introducing me to Japanese cars and giving me loads to tune and run ragged :D around different tracks that I previously didn't know, secondly GT4 gave me various little history lessons which I hope is carried over to GT5:tup: oh and did I mention 700+ cars in GT4 to tune and do whatever I please with? ;) I got 728 in the pal edition.

Thank You Kaz, You are the God of video gaming.

Oh and we can't forget the easily distracted translator. ;)
