I just got a Lg 3d tv from best... for 1500 dollars and i was wondering if anyone here has a 3d tv or has any comments about active/passive 3d tvs:idea:
Too gimmicky for me. We already see in 3D and unless they can match that without glasses, I don't see the fun. I've been completely satisfied with 2D TV watching for a few decades now and don't feel the need to switch (or pad the bottom line of TV manufacturers.)
This tv i got is a passive 3d tv, it does not have the glasses that requier batteries. its just llike wearing sunglasses in a movie, never hurts your eyes when watching because the glasses dont have to shutter to produse 3d picture, and because it is passive you can turn almost any image on screen into 3d:idea:
When they make the 3D without requiring any glasses, I will do it. Until then no, Iv'e spent too much on tvs in the last ten years and could not fathom buying another $2,000+ tv. I remember paying $2,000 for my first HDTV, a Sony 43" 1080i "Hi-Scan", rear projection. Makes me want to throw up now.
3D TVs always give me headaches. It's the same as watching a 3D movie at a cinema, for me, but watching a 3D movie on a smaller screen seems to amplify the effect, for me.
I just bought a 40" Sony Bravia that had 3d. I bought it for gaming because it was the nicest looking tv on the market. But since it has 3d I figure I should invest in some 3d glasses to check it out. I currently have 4 games that are in 3d. GOW3, GT5, Halo CE Anniversary, and Crysis 1. I dont have any movies yet.
I noticed a feature last night on this tv that turned everything from 2d into 3d. Some sort of 3d simulation. How well does that work? Also how do the true 3d games work in true 3d? Does it just make just the menus and stationary objects in 3d or is the game truly in 3d like the movies?
Yeah I kinda figured the fake 2d to 3d setting would probably not work very well.
How about the true 3d games with the true 3d setting? You answered 1 of the questions but not the others.
A TV can never display a 3D image. It's a flat screen. It's all in how your mind perceives it. That's what I meant. It has nothing to do with any of your questions. Just correcting your belief.
For me 3D is great, I really enjoy watching the football in 3D and don'y mind the glasses what so ever. GT5 looks ok in 3D but loses to much graphical phidelity. the best game I have played in 3D is wipeoutHD. The best film I have seen in 3D is Drive Angry.
I checked yesterday on some 3d glasses. They had a beginner starter kit that had 2 Sony glasses and The Chronicles of Narnia for $150.00. I will just wait and see if I can find a better deal later. The 3d isnt that important to me. But I would like to know how it works with games. No one has answered that question yet.
I finally purchased the glasses yesterday from post# 13. I only watched about 15 minutes of the Narnia movie in 3d. Most of it looked pretty good but it still seemed blurry at times. BUT I also have not adjusted my tv at all. So over the weekend I will check out some 3d games and maybe even some more 3d movies. My tv is 40" and is about 6-7' away. But so far its not too bad in 3D. Hopefully with some TV adjustments it will be even better. I was surprised how fast these glasses charge. A 3 minute charge gets you 3 hours. Or a 30 minute charge gets you 30 hours!
Any advice or hints on the 3d tv adjustments?
3D is amazing and adds a hell of a lot to movies, I really don't get people moaning about the glasses as you hardly notice them once the movie gets going
I own a new 55" LG TV with passive 3d. I really like it a lot. My wife had problems with an active 3d set that we demo'd in the store. She started getting a headache from it. She does not get any ill effects from the passive 3d of our LG TV. Plus the glasses are much more reasonably priced than the active shutter glasses. Four pair of glasses were included with the television.
We enjoy watching movies like Avatar, Polar Express (my daughter's favorite), etc... in 3d. I haven't played any 3d games yet but I'm sure eventually I will. Some of the content we get from our cable provider is outstanding in 3d!
