So I've heard a lot of people dislike GT Sport's graphics, which surprised me. So I've made this poll to see how many of you guys/gals (I'm not sexist) actually think that. IMO, I think it looks great, but it's at the moment rough around the edges. Hopefully PD will polish out those rough edges! But now I want your opinions!

2nd option is fair. It's visually very very good with parts that need work. The trackside detail at the new Dragontrail track needs some work. It's obviously still a work in progress though.

I like the graphics, but when you race in bright sun the game looks pretty mediocre, but in dark conditions or sunset it's one of the best looking racing games out there
I guess the game in the sunny noon condition looks better when played in HDR. But then, it still looks decent without HDR nonetheless. :P

For HDR users, I wonder how the HDR Brightness setting i've spotted in the settings do any good in regards to sun highlights and other bright spots.

Voted also #2. Overall very impressed with the graphics but to be honest I expected more (but we're still in beta and who knows PD has some graphical surprises left?). My expectation is based on the marketing created by PD itself: best looking ' real driving simulator' ever. Real Ferrari red, 12.000 nits etc. Which still can be the case in the final release. Time will tell.

Replays are the defacto standard, but we don't buy a race game only for the replays

On the recent DF analysis they said that the HDR brightness setting should be reduced on HDR capable TV's that can't handle the full Nit value the game can output.

Didn't know the game was mastered at 10,000 nits. Certainly be interesting when we get a display that can pop highlights at that value.

Now that's what I talking about. Imo GTS is one of gorgeous racing game throughout history of GT. The lighting is one of a kind and game design that always seems aiming for realism combined with smooth, flair and elegant presentation is simply my kind of favorite. Still, there are some rough edges on the trackside details as what we seen in the beta. Hopefully that will sorted out in the finished product, but for now it is pretty enough. Best GT title after GT4 and GT5 Prologue regarding graphics and visual presentation imo.

It's is a stunning looking title, it's better at times away from sunny middays, but that is also true if reality. Midday and sunshine will always make video and photos look harsh.

That said I don't personally think it's a major step up from the lighting in Dirt or the entire package of Driveclub looks wise (and environmentally DC is ahead), both of which have been with us a while.

They are also still not quite hitting a locked 60fps.

That said I went with graphics are not the most important for me, and personally feel that they should be the final polish, not the main attraction. Hence the reason why I currently feel from the beta that it's the weakest if the Sims currently around.

I do, Man I love replays in car games..:) :) I love just doing some laps without racing then sit back and check the replays out..Gt sport replays look amazing I cannot wait to get hold of it, as I dont have the beta, I love seeing the replays people post.
I agree with this. The first time I saw the GT1 demo, that was it. That's the main reason why I played GT games.

I like their suggestion regarding colour spectrum and HDR being somewhat future proofed for new TV's coming out.
And with the typical time span for GT games, that's good news for all.

In order to get revisited then GTS needs to reach a “Classic Game” status that is relatively unlikely wether you look at it from a feature point of view or game underlying mechanics. By the time consumer displays reach the full potential of HDR10 specs GT Sport will probably be long forgotten, online servers unavailable and gameplay hopefully surpassed by PD’s own productions. 10000 nits/Rec.2020 gamut capable consumer TVs aren’t near the corner and, if proven successful, Sony’s recent switch to LG’s OLED panels will only further delay their potential arrival. Future-proofing sounds a bit like a marketing gimmick in the context. From a pure graphical perspective, fixing the aliasing issues currently present on the vanilla PS4 would be more beneficial IMO.

They bother to implement all this "advanced" technology, so advanced that most players won't be able to even expirience it and then their game has the same problem as it did 4 years ago A.K.A. cockpit view is too dark. Phatetic....

That's a fair call. 👍
I agree.

And it's my fault for putting out such a general comment, but your response wasn't what I was aiming at.

I was thinking more towards people who have yet to take the plunge into 4k/HDR TV's.
And with GTSport probably being PD's PS4 game for a few years, even purchasing the "latest" TV will allow even greater visual advantages as TV's improve.

I don't anticipate GTSport being PD's flagship game beyond when TV's surpass what the game can do.
But I expect it will hold up very well graphically for years to come.

I don't have any issue with people using the "future proof" line.
And I guess in this case I would agree with them.
The question obviously is how far into the future are we talking about?
And in this instance, with what PD have put into the game regarding graphic "features", it seems a reasonable call.

That's exactly how my son is using Assetto Corsa and also sometimes plays on "my" PS4Pro the GT Sport beta. He just loves to take out a car and watch the replay. I like to race. So GT Sport is a title for everybody 👍

Which brings me to an idea: what about a subscription, let's say $10 per month, and I will upload the eye candy replays. Dutch are traders or not ;).

If you have a specific request for a track/car combi replay let me know and I will upload so you can also enjoy the beta even without having a code.

Don't know if you knew but Driveclub's environment was modeled with NASA's photos. Same for the sky, it was the same as the real world.
The clouds also will never be at the same place.

Graphics when racing look sub par to me, a little bland & unexciting. However, replay graphics look absolutley stunning.

GT Sport is absolutely gorgeous !

Only Dragon Trails isn't finished yet. There has been progress since v1.05 but PoDi can do even better!

But apart from that, I repeat, this game is beautiful. For me, the most beautiful racing game !

I said this before but Gran Turismo graphics tend to age quite good compared to the other games during it's Era. Watching replays of me driving around on Leguna Seca during Sunset in GT3 is still a beautiful experience despite having outdated graphics. Viewing cars in GT5 dealership with the changing background from day to evening and night is wonderfull. It's so good even by today's standard IMO.

And GT Sport is no exception, it currently looks much better than it was in the announcement trailer or Cooper Event.

The graphics is a mix of awesome and meh. But there is one thing that Poly master : they know how to showcase cars. It's not a matter of graphics but rather something about art, style. IMO, they are the best for everything "non-playable": replays, showroom, photomode...

For me one of the biggest complaints about GTS is grass.

The grass already being a a flat 2D texture suffers even more by poor anisotropic filtering making it look like a green blob with no detail.

Next thing are the terrain banks alongside the tracks being covered by a flat textures while in real life the grass will have some puffiness/volume to it.
