Since I have seen so many different and some times confusing ideas about what GT5 should become, I thought I was gonna find out what the majority wants.

I however, hope GT5 will be a buttkicking racing sim to compete right up there with the PC sims such as iRacing, rFactor, Race07, NR2003, LFS, you name it!

I agree we will get a buttkicking racing sim. The only thing I'm a bit reserved on is the damage. I don't have a problem with it except how far will it go? I don't want to see or hear racers complaining about the damage modelling not being consistent with a real world experience with the same car. I'm also concerned about photo contests or video clips with categories as: Walked away, Damn Dude are you alright?, and Bury the poor guy.

None, you have 3 options for Racing but only one for driving that includes free roam and no 'other' option.....

A driving/racing game/sim as it is now.

World famous tracks and stages for various types of motorsport (hill climbs, drags, drift, time attack, out right races, enduros etc) and free runs where you drive the courses and stages as you wish. No free total free roam as that is just a waste of resources.

Very accurate car models, which are mostly road production cars and the rest 'good' competition cars. Physics very accurate, realistic tuning.

Point is a driving game to simulate the real life car lifestyle, which you can do as you please (I don't mean free roam there). Not like the PC sims which all only come down the competing online and off, but a game that has an element of that as well as kicking back and cruising a twisty coastal road/stage or Nurburgring, bathurst etc, that is where I get most of my enjoyment from, the driving different cars and tinkering not the competing.

I chose hardcore, but I tend to agree with VIPERGTSR01 about the options of roaming and tinkering.

I choice hardcore for the fact it was no option like this, but if you take the hardcore and add what VIPERGTSR01 said that would =. Nicely said VIPERGTSR01.

I see, yeah I kind of enjoy stuff like that as well. I think the choice for you should have been either the first or second option then.

It's hard to come up with poll options that satisfy everyone. :ouch:

Well a 'Other - please state' would be a good one.

I voted 'hardcore'. I want it to be as realistic as possible.

I voted hardcore sim too, because there was nothing that sounded right. Like VIPERGTSR01 posted, I want much of that included. I also want to be able to modify and livery up my car to my liking. Another would be a Career Mode which reflects real life, starting from scratch with a sports car and trying to make it into a serious racing machine, and seeking to make a name for yourself at the lowest levels of enthusiast semi-pro racing. And there's more, but it's almost midnite. :P

I´d agree with Vipergtsr01 110% that´s how i always looked at GT games, and imo PD is slowly getting closer to their vision of a all out driving game that covers basicly as much of the auto world as they can!

Picked hardcore altho Vipergtsr01´s post is closer to what i´d like!

Yeah, actually that came to me once I'd just posted the poll, lol. Is there's no way to edit the poll options?

Not really.
Either you can ask a friendly staff member to amend it for you, or hope one stumbles upon a poll that needs changing, and,
fantasy-27.gif
does a little magic! ;)

Is there an option like "to be a Gran Turismo game" - as it was for 10 last years?

I vote for that option.

You probably know what we'll get already. :ouch:

I don't have many info about atcual content or such to be honest, but that is not important for this topic :)

Although I find this poll and overall idea very constructive, I do not see why option to vote for "Gran Turismo game as it always was" is not included.

I would never like to see Gran Turismo becomes just "another" racing or driving game as all outhere - including dull and boring simulations with no soul whatoseover. Hopefuly it will never happen, but it's very unfair to give people option to vote about what they would like Gran Turismo 5 to be and not include simple and for some the best answer "just Gran Turismo".

You somehow made all your poll-options very unfair, while creating confusion in overall idea - because it's not clearly visible that your options ARE NOT regarding PHYSICS syle, but GAMEPLAY style - which is totally diferent idea.

And also you're making options very biased in your subjective descriptions.

1. Hardcore racing simulator (ultra realistic and as many IRL race tracks as you can think of) - you're presenting this as the "greatest option", but that's just your subjective oppinion.

2. Racing simulator (decent simulation not quite like the leading PC ones) - this shows the bias you've expressed above, because you clearly say that other simulations besides PC are not "simulation like the leading PC ones". I do not want to go into another meaningless debate about what is simulation and what is not, but you're clearly biased here.

3. Racing game (just like the random kid racers such as Forza, PGR, NFS and so on) - calling these games "kid racers" is somehow offensive because of the reasons I have no time and intention to discuss - but it is also clear showcase of your bias - and it also shows that you've also mixed fundamental idea about PHYSICS and GAMEPLAY structure design

4. Driving simulator (race tracks included, but also free roam in cities) - no problem here

See my point? It's that simple :)

Leave it to Amar to provide thoughtful analysis. ;)

I actually saw much of what you posted above in his poll, but didn't want to sound huffy: "Hey, how can you lump fairly serious racing sims like Forza and GT with games like Burnout?"

I do think GT5 could do with some more "simming up," but it's because I find the views Kaz and the lads provide and the feedback from tire sounds, along with some nice FFB from the Logitech wheels to give you all you need to drive most of these cars competitively fast. Many of us would like to see the low to mid-speed tire grip envelope tweaked a bit, but maybe that's all GT5 and Prologue needs. To be sure, if GT5 is like Prologue with no changes, I won't complain because that would give us a handling and feel lineage we're familiar with, and make GT5 a lot like GT has always been. I've been playing Ferrari Challenge a lot, but got so tired of fighting everything in the game that I fired up GT4 for an evening a couple of nights ago, and had SO much fun that I'm going to be racing in it for a while. And I can see where Prologue makes GT4 seem more primitive, but at the same time, how accurate GT4 really is as a driving slash racing sim.

I like GT to be GT as GT4was, but much more competitive and motivating, with some point to point roads (Stelvio Pass, Isle Of Man, Grossglockner, Pikes Peak etc), perfect rally gravel and sand physics and totally custom races with all options and cars customizable. This would be the dream.

You're right. I failed with this one, hehe.

EDIT: I'll close this now as no one is happy with the poll (including me). Amar or someone else could perhaps create another, better one? :) Would be quite intresting to see how mixed the feelings are about GT.
