What does one Marine drifter do to get back at another Marine Drifter

You throw him in the back of a HumVee and do this.

The story is like this, I tought one of my drivers how to drift in my own little way. I basically scared the chocolate out of him until he caught on to the idea. Well, 6 months passed since I started teaching him and he's gotten really good. This video proves it as he takes a Marine Corps HMMVV and drifts it.

Now these vehicles aren't usually associated with being the best drifters on the street but you add rain to Okinawas coral roads and you've got a sliding beast with a TORSEN 5:1 LSD.

A few notes:
1. Yes it's a HumVee
2. Yes I know the camera angles suck, but I was in the back. There are no seatbelts or seatbacks in the HumVees.
3. Yes, that's me screaming like a twelve year old girl.
4. I know I know, we should have got some outside or front side shots but hell, he wasn't going for a video, he was trying to scare me and he succeeded, as you can tell.

I hope this gets moved over to the GT3 drifting forum because I want my boys to see how drifters from the Marine Corps get down.

Oh, here's the vid.
Enjoy

What' Marines Drift

Hopefully you enjoyed watching as much as I enjoyed being slammed around at 80 clicks.

BTW, when I get back to the states from this lovely country, I will be giving drift lessons to anyone who wants to learn, I'm not certified to teach yet, but I'm working on that. All, I have to do is take the test, but I learned from an acredited instructor Hokuri Shin (my hero) and when I take the test (this Friday) I will be ready to take on the world with my talent as a DRIFT INSTRUCTOR.

I guess there's nothing left to say but what I always say at the end of my threads,

Shadow Drifter

Oh yeah, he drifted damn near every turn. Since it's wet and you can't hear the tires that well on the coral roads, just watch the piece of wood attatched to the chain (Chalk Block) it'll let you know when we're slidin. HAHA!

I'm sorry about the vid size man, but cut me some slack here man, we made the video just for the fun of it. Basically to show that Marines know how to have fun even while we're working that we know how to make light of a boring situation. Normally driving back there is just a long boring ride through the touges. We weren't trying to create another Drift Saga or GT3 Drift Bible with it we just wanted to show the GTPers that we're not the killers and psycho warfighters that the media makes us out to be. It was just for fun.  :D

I'm sorry that urked you, I'll try harder next time. I'm sorry you were expecting more, something with dynamic lighting, a sound-track and multifacited transitions and video effects. I didn't think that it had to be all that to be fun. Maybe you're over looking the main point of this movie which is to not show off drift skills but just to be fun to watch. Maybe if I overlayed it with a majenta or cyan filter you'd be more satisfied.

I'm not mad, I'm just trying to figure out how you can say it was totally boring. I mean, it wasn't the best vid, but everyone over here who watched it seem to have a really good time watching that and I just wanted to share that good time with my fellow GTPers.

As for the language, I want anyone in this forum to sit in the back of a HumVee while it's doing 80kph, sideways and linking to not swear or say something obscene.

"Oh shoot darn it heck" LMAO:lol:

That's about all I can manage to think of as an alternative.

Anyway, I hope that any future IRL drift vids that I come out with are up to your standards of production quality, at least my Camaro Drift vid should be, I went ahead and set up a plan of action for this one, I'm hoping to please everyone with this one. It'll have grip driving and some excellent long drifts. Well, like I said before.

I just watched this video, and besides hearing a lot of profanities and watching a camera get bounced around, I didn't see much drifting. There was an occasional loss of traction, but I would have to take into account that humvee's aren't designed to go sideways, just through stuff. My thoughts were that the driver was taking the turns really fast on some bumpy pavement, and that's all.

I'm not saying that I don't believe you Shadow, it's just hard to understand what you say when the proof is very indecisive. Anyway, I'd like to see some outside shots, if your superior officer didn't already give you an arse kicking, hopefully they didn't.

Plus, I'm glad to see that we're making a difference overseas, and am glad to pay taxes for it. :D j/k

I was wondering about the superior officer thing too. I mean, are you gonna get in trouble?! I bet you will if any one finds out.

BTW- This just reminded me about a story that my grandpa told be (he was in the 101st and jumped into Normandy, Holland, fought in Bastogne and checked out the view from the Eagles Nest. He was shot once and got some shrapnel in the back.) He was standing next to gas tanks in some city in the middle of the night. He was supposed to be guarding them and certainly not to be smoking but he was. His superior came by and he had no choice but to eat the cigarette. I thought that was hilarious.

What this means is that the Humvee has some exceptional tires and suspension. Given that the road is wet, you will not hear a lot of squealing from the car if it is making sharp turns. You hear the occassional squealing because the driver pulled the e-brake or similar techniques to get the rear wheels stuck on the road.

Shadow Drifter, ever thought of joining the NASA space program? :D

Also, since it was on coral roads, most of the road is coral, not concrete or cement, so it would make more of a scratching noise, not a squealing noise.
