What goofy tactics have you used to try and shave time?

So far I have:

-Turned music on/off

-Brushed my teeth and freshened up to give myself a "fresh feel"

-Gotten an ice cold refreshment to drink in between laps to again, keep fresh.

-Turned race sound effects off and had music only on.

-Cleaned my room to make my mind feel more organized.

-Taken a break and visualized the course.

-Went crazy and just drove like a lunatic hoping I would find something useful.

Here is a new one I've been using.

I found another good way to follow a ghost without it being in front of you. Load and turn off the ghost and then magnify the track map close to the largest setting with follow car direction. You can easily see where you are gaining or losing ground to the ghost without it impeding your visuals of the track.

I've tried using "The Force" with my eyes closed...didn't work out too well, got vertigo and fell out of Playseat lol.

That was me falling asleep at the wheel from playing 'til 3am at night.

Lol I was thinking about making an OCD/ritual type thread like this.

When you are not fast enough to be running with the ghost in front of you and you have already learned the track, shutting off the map entirely helped me a lot while keeping the ghost visible.

I also have to keep my seating position in the EXACT same spot lol

Another thing is sitting on the very edge of my seat to make it easier to move my legs (since my pedal set up is the standard flat-on-the-carpet set up, making my feet push the pedals at an angle that is a lot more vertical than a normal car which is more horizontal).

I've done that. Sometimes I get so tired of the R34 under-steering that I just under-steer the car straight into the wall at full speed. Teach that thing a lesson!

I can't count the number of times I've done this. Haha. It would be so much more gratifying if the game had damage. Not necessarily even "realistic" damage. It would be a great stress relief during times like this to be able to crash into a wall and watch the car explode into 5 pixelated pieces ala the early Microsoft Flight Simulator crash sequences.

I just take another double of Jack.

But seriously:

- Get up, move around and stretch.
- Caffine...lots of it, and water to hydrate
- If the car/track combinations work together, for me Eifel and Toscana did while Indy and Toscana didn't, then I'll switch to the other time trial. This last set of tracks worked well to continously improve by moving back and forth. No idea about Madrid and Rome.

While I wouldn't call it driving like a lunatic I will do laps with specific goals for only a corner or two. Min speed, exit RPM, brake/turn pts, etc. Sometimes it comes off like a lunatic.

Do the track plastered to a reasonable time and get it stuck in my head (the laps are slow and awful). Then come back the next day and do them to perfection, my plan tonight ^_^

Find a song that is the exact length of the lap time I want. Messes with your head as it repeats over and over and over, but then when you turn it off its like your feeling the music....Helps my rhythm.

One night during round 1, I got home from playing a gig with my band at a brew pub where I'd had 4-5 IPAs, and a couple of Patrons (I wasn't driving the van home that night). I wasn't really tired so I thought I'd run a few laps for grins.

Third lap on the Cape I dropped a half a second. I guess it pays to be relaxed.

For one, I cant do a lap w/ music in the BG. I have no music on rather just the Sound Effects.

One thing I do is take a quick nap, that helps refresh your mind and you end up concentrating better.

I may try a few of the suggested ones, like the 'map' tricks.

I suggest you guys check out the strategies in the book

I also would suggest getting up and doing something else if you are seeing no improvement. You need time to switch your mind off GT Academy so it can essentially rest itself and when you come back you will feel "refreshed". The brain can only take in so much information before it starts to plateau in performance. The brain will refresh itself based on you getting up and doing something else and you will actually retain information easier.
