What have you done to your car today?

Suspension is done. Now al wel have to do is adjust it.

What kind of lowering springs or coilovers?I just added tint though I should of listen to the part of having two people...especially for a hatchback...

but I certainly object to having to pay through the nose for insurance when I make damn sure that I don't get into any trouble.
:grumpy:

and did you? they didn't do their homework before plucking the numbers out of thin air  they do like to take advantage of those that don't bother questioning quotes. I got a rubbish renewal quote only dropped 20 from the previous year, and after a phone call got it down a further 100 and I didn't get any resistance to it, they would apparently 'run it through the system' or 'speak to their superior'. I realise it might level out but its a bit iffy that they would be getting more desperate for money as to raise it...

and another thing, whats more fun than scrubbing lousy paint and lacquer you may wonder, scrubbing lousy paint and lacquer, layer of filler, and then the original lacquer and paint hurrah!

Yeah, should be good wound all the way down.. ;)

Cleaned the interior of one of my cars.. Removed the center console and brackets to achieve a more old school feeling, just need to cover up the exposed parts and the heater and it looks good in my opinion :)

I didn't get into trouble, no. I've only driven 4,000 miles in the damn thing in the last year!

I guess I should have rang up but I only noticed the other night that my insurance was due and couldn't find anything better before the renewal date.

Still, it's a rip-off.

In brighter news, I now have new discs, pads, calipers and springs. Until the pads and springs have been run-in it's actually the springs that have made the biggest difference in the short term. Obviously it's still a stiff ride, but the jarring crashes have disappeared by the feel of things. It's taken the edge off it, which is something I've been wanting for ages...

New set of heads for the lil six, going on after Cruise for Charity (local car show/cruise, raises money for sick children). Ports have been de dagged and smoothed:

Always regretted selling the stock rims to some creepy guy from the other end of the state, so I found a set. Bit worse for wear. Before:

Still needs a second coat of silver, and some clear. I'll get the brushes out and do some detail work on the lion, maybe in Geneisis blue.

Got a few pieces arriving in the post for the old girl next week.

I don't get it, you're putting those old things back on the VR?

What did I do today? A bit of water and a microfibre cloth to clean off the mud (lots of rain lately, I most unfortunately live on a dirt road :irked:) so it looks half respectable going to the performance shop tomorrow to get the 1.9:1 ratio Yella Terra roller rockers and :bowdown:HOPEFULLY:bowdown: a good tune.

I'll put a set of reasonably grippy tires on them, track days for me!

I would have thought they were a little skinny, small and heavy for track days, but OK.;) I'd probably want some forged 17s for track days, but that's a ways off it seems, got to have it right for daily driving first.:scared:

only small stuff:
> put in a new car battery... (66Ah)
bn7b0fcl92id92hg3.jpg

> removed my power pop valve (type bonalume)... wanted to get rid of this "zschhh sound..." and back to basic....

> also removed my chip... gave a bit too much manifold pressure... standard is quick enough for the fiat coupe and I don't wanna end up with a broken engine...

Love the new car Dan, great noise from that engine, its certainly a bit more subtle than the Audi ;)

Haha yeah it is a bit.. The noise is really nice.. it has a stainless cone filter the siz of a dinner plate and a Milltek exhaust fitted.. Sounds lovely :D Cheers mate! 👍

Unfortunately...both of them are off the road.

The transfer case in the Sierra got stuck in neutral coming back from a 4WD trip and so it doesn't go into any gear at all. Had to get it towed 80km back home.

And as for the Skyline, it's looking a bit sad now. I came into a roundabout a bit too hot and the front left tyre let go. Understeered into a high kerb, missed a lamppost by inches, ripped apart the other front tyre and the rear left and damaged the front left rim. Well, I did always want a new set of wheels for the thing...

Been meaning to fit a distributor cover behind the grille of my Mini for a few weeks as it's been a bit damp recently and after several spray induced misfire riddled runs I finally got round to fitting it yesterday and in the process discovered the dizzy cap was only clipped on on one side, amazing it was running at all really!

Changed the horn for something a bit beefier too, the original Mini one isn't exactly very manly and despite being bright red and constantly having the headlights on (biker habit) I always seem to get dimwits pulling out on me lately, I think it's something to do with people not expecting it to be as quick as it is? :dunce:

Should totally send this to me haha Assuming it fits a Toyota Caldina. Mine you just can't hear properly. Not that I'm a big fan of "show-off valves" but come on.... gotta be able to hear it a little... haha

Kidding about the sending part by the way

Not what I have done to my beast but what I'm going to do....

Bit of paint work/detailing and wash, polish, etc lol

Got a new wheel and new tyres for the Skyline and took it for a drive. Got out of the crash lightly it seems, only real problem is it pulls to the left slightly but it's hardly noticeable and easily dealt with.

The new wheel was an alloy off of an R31 that's now the spare. I moved the rear wheels onto the front, which are running two stock 205/60R14 tyres (one of which was the old spare), and the two new tyres are 215/65R14s that are now on the rear. No wreckers in town had 205/60s so I persevered.

Hy there... thanks for your nice comment!
I just want to make more understatement so I kicked the valve out...
"LESS I MORE" I say... so please do not overload your toyota with paint or wings or so... got pictures? I would like to see it.

hahahaha OH NO! Never will my car Or any car I own, make it to the Questionable Mods thread... I hope... haha

All standard apart from front bumper, rims and suspension. This was all done before I bought it

Small claim to fame: Bumper is the only one in the country.

I'd like to make it a little bit more racy/intimidating without losing practicality and efficiency

It's been a while since I've posted, so I thought I'd update. I am currently working toward swapping a JDM H22A (92-95 Prelude 2.2L VTEC motor... 10hp more than the ones put into the American 'ludes for a total of 197bhp, over my LX's 125) into my Accord, I should have it in by about late January. Until then, besides collecting parts I need for a successful swap, I'm doing an engine bay wire tuck (includes relocating the battery and fuse box to the trunk) and making a more sturdy trunk floor. The one that came with the car was made out of flimsy carpet laid over just enough cardboard to cover the spare tire. Mine is thin plywood, wrapped in vinyl for now (looking into some durable rubber, or even truck bed liner!). Some unnecessary parts for the swap I've bought/will buy include an AEM short ram intake - the most expensive sock on a tube ever! - and some Explicit Speed Performance polyurethane motor mounts (possibly their traction bar + torque strut as well, if they give us CB7Tuner members yet another awesome exclusive sale this Fall... if not, a DC header which I'll later enlarge the collector from 2" to 2.5").

Pics of the driver side non-engine wire tuck done. The power steering pump, reservoir and lines will be removed once the motor is out, I'll be converting the power rack to a manual one. The harness running over the fender liner used to be in the bay, routed over the strut tower and into the corner pocket to the lights, p/s, etc. It all had to be de-loomed, wrapped up again all custom like, and extended where needed. Cruise control was yanked out as well. I've got tomorrow off and will be working on some of the passenger side.

Half way done with the trunk (also a project for tomorrow):

Truck bed liner you can get as a spray. I'm sure if there's a place here in nz that can do the stuff for ya it shouldn't be hard to find a place there who will spray the stuff on haha

I was in the engine bay again, and was looking at the PCV hose where it connects to my intake pipe, and I noticed that the intake pipe has all cracked and split, obviously no good. Patched it up temporarily with some small copper pipe and a heap of sealant.

Sticking with my mantra of only fixing the car with superior products I went looking around for Samco hoses to replace it, the distributor here in Brisbane said he couldn't get them for my car, as the only place that does them had the jig made especially for it, and that was Fensport in the UK, so after mucking around with payment (no credit cards from outside the EU - I had to do an expensive international money transfer) I've got a kit coming for my car.

Should tidy the engine bay up nicely I think

changed oil, changed diff oil, checked spark plugs, attempted to change trans and pto oil but didn't have the right tools.
