What have you done to your car today?

You can't have yellow lights that have been dipped or painted, they have to actually produce yellow light from the gases inside them. Any light that's painted is going to suck.

The visibility is about the same as with the 6k if not slightly reduced(might be the beam height and alignment) but definitely still better than standard halogen.
Apparently the blue-er light is supposed to increase eye strain in long periods of driving which I noticed a few times on the motorway, Ill have to see how these go. I didnt buy these with increased performance in mind btw...

What did I do to my car? Its got a miss so its back up north in Angola. :grumpy: Don't worry, it will be fixed soon and yes I got home. I took my sister's.... Dodge.. Caliber... with the cvt. :grumpy::scared:

Finally ordered these from Explicit Speed Performance:

Polyurethane engine mounts powder coated in their "Near Chrome/polished billet look" color. Should be here by Christmas.

A big day today.

Did an oil change on my Grand Prix, and also got it ready for winter. Filled it up with de-icer windshield washer and threw a small shovel in the back seat "just in case".

I also set fire to our van's engine again, and damn near blew up our lawn mower.

Replaced the leaking stock steering rack in my E30 BMW with an E36 rack. The factory E30 steering rack is 4 turns lock-to-lock, but the E36 steering rack is only 3.2 turns lock-to-lock. There is nothing like turning needed maintenance into an upgrade.

Ordered a battery relocator kit and small-size battery with brass terminals from Password:JDM. It's going behind the front bumper, where the stock air box went. The bumper's easy enough to remove should it need a jump, I'll just keep a wrench in the glovebox. Or actually, aren't there remote terminal kits?

Now the snow's arrived, I felt having tyres with a chunkier tread would be helpful. I've started shopping around for a new set of tyres, but in the meantime I pinched an old set of cross plys from a Land Rover Series 3 on the farm and stuck them on my Discovery. It means I'm limited to about 50mph, but in this weather I don't really feel the need to go any faster. Had to move the front bumper forward slightly with some precisely applied leverage. I like the way the wheels look so much I might just keep them...

Look like they're sitting abit too snug all round :odd:

There's more space there than the photo shows. The smallest gap is slightly more than an inch, but that's only on one point of the front left tyre. I'm not going to be towing much though.

Diggin the look! But does it rub at all when you're turning?

Nope. Close, but the turning cycle is measured in galaxys, so there's not much front wheel angle on full lock anyway.

Darn. Car still sitting in the garage immobile. Melted a spark plug on propane (really have to change the vaporizer) and blew a brake line. Still waiting for both parts.

Have fun keeping that on life support during winter.

Got the girl oil sprayed. Just in time too since we just got 90 cm of snow in 3 days.
Oil sprayed?

Also, Cyborg, you're probably going to have to switch batteries in the winter. That thing will struggle to hold a charge in the cold temps and might even fail to start the car if it's been sitting for a couple days. They're made for racing for a reason.

Exactly. My friend has an Odyssey battery in his S2000 and it doesn't always keep a charge even during warm weather if it doesn't get driven for a week or more.

Given that he subsequently talked about snow, I'm presuming it's some sort of underbody rustproofing treatment. I'd always thought they use a type of wax, but perhaps some places use an oil-based coating.

That would be correct. Depends on the place that you go, but not a lot of places up here use the wax based stuff. Although its just a rust proofing, we typically call it oil spraying for winter around here. Its basically a petroleum product with the consistancy of honey that is sprayed inside and outside the entire car, except for on the body.

Another 14" so far today, and we've officially called in a state of emergency. :ouch:

So I was told, even before I finally made the decision to get an Odyssey. I wanted a small battery with decent power, so I wanted to try this. The car's my daily driver and then some, the longest it ever really sits is maybe 16 hours. As for winter... I'll be richer for the experience . It was discounted a smidge because I bought it in combo with the mount, so I don't feel too bad about any potential loss.

Not that the battery's going in for a couple months except for test fitting (supposed shelf life of two years without recharging for these), but the weather's actually fairly nice still, we haven't gotten more than a couple inches of snow. Nothing that's stuck to the roads, for sure. I don't even need a sweatshirt all that often. I've been biking or walking to work every day since I think the end of August.

Just start the car for a few minutes each day. Not that difficult.

Also, don't buy an Oddysey battery. It's a rebadged Hawker Genesis battery for 50 bucks more. I forget what brand was rebadging braille batteries off the top of my head.

I broke the washer fluid motor. I had summer stuff in so I for a warmish day to spray out. The next day I put in the winter stuff and it doesn't work anymore.

Bought a limited slip differential, considering getting a cam.

But I've just been given a redundancy at work, so that may have to hold.

That sucks.

Enjoy the LSD, though... one of the best mods you can do to any performance or even mild performance car.

Got it stuck. I was parallel parking and tried to get closer to the curb than everybody else (people suck at parallel parking here) and now I'm stuck in a pile of snow left by the plow.

Getting it out will be fun. I have a pile behind it and in front of it (and probably under it) that I have to figure out how to get out of. This will be a good exercise in learning to rock that DSG transmission.

Also got it looked at by my buddy in an automotive program. Turns out my battery has been almost toast since April and I need new front suspension bushings. Awesome.

Haven't done anything to my car... but rather the girlfriends car...

Its snowing here again big time! so we took her car for some FWD powersliding and abusing the handbrake action... well, underneath the fresh snow was pure ice and one slide/drift just didnt stop and hit the road barrier.... BUT luckily the impact was totally absorbed by a wall of old snow... PHEW... no damage  but a not so amused gf now :(

Chris

lol, my gf's cobalt has permanent TCS so its tough, AND the handbrake is in the WORST place ever.
