What is a "clean lap"?

There's something I can't understand. What the hell is a clean lap? I can drive a perfect lap, master almost every corner, stick to the racing line, not touch a single object or car or not even block a car just because they are too far behind me. Nothing. Then I'm not even paying attention to getting that objective, hit a barrel or touch a wall and get the clean lap thing. A bit inconsistent if you ask me. Are there any specific things you should or shouldn't do to get it?

Also, is it just me or some corners don't mark as mastered when you drive them on the racing line at a decent speed. Then you go off the racing line, slide a bit and voila! Corner mastered. :)

I've found the clean lap thing inconsistent as well. Not sure about it.

The corner mastering seems to be a combination of speed and line. You can apparently sacrifice some of one for the other, as long as you have good percentages of both....

Corner Mastering can sometimes be spotty. Same with the clean lap and how they determine that.

There are some instances where 5 seconds on grass won't count as cutting track. But, on certain tracks, a slight nudge will give you your first warning.

As my career progress passed 60%, my understanding of "Clean Lap" of the game are:

* Follow guide line 99% of time will get you a clean lap, however, a few tracks' guide line actually leads you off the track.

* Must not hit any AI cars during the lap.

* Must not run off the track, e.g. grass, sand trap, even the extra run off area.

* Must not crash, e.g. hit the barriers.

* Must not cut some tracks' chicanes, e.g. Miami, Siverstone, Zolder.

Good luck :)

Atleast 2 wheels within the white lines (ie on the track), to not spin out, not touch any walls, not drive on the grass, not crash into other cars.

A clean lap is just a normal lap, assuming you don't mess up.

I was trying to get a clean lap on Nordschlife yesterday. Drove at 100km/h max, slowly around the course, never put a wheel on the grass, never hit anything. I even let them all go at the start so that I don't have any incidents. Took me bloody 10 minutes to get round and guess what, no clean lap! I suppose there is some minimal time/speed required to mark the task as done.

I've gone pretty slow and still got it. On some tracks though you can't even get close to the curbs. If you're not on the middle of the track it doesn't count it.

If you still have problems, check for the clean sector bonus each sector. That can narrow down where the problem is.
