What is the best turbo kit for a 180sx Drifter?

Higher RPM Range turbo's take longer to spool up, therefore that wouldn't be the best option for slow, tight tracks. But also lower RPM Range turbo's produce less power, therefore I think you just need to adjust to the track that your drifting on at a certain time. If you don't wanna switch turbo's between tracks, I would say just mid range or low range turbo.

You guys prefer low range and mid range turbos? That's kind of surprising, I almost always use High-RPM turbochargers. I can see why you would prefer the other turbos but I think that High-RPM turbos work best for me. Usually I can counter the lower torque by having a really close transmission setup. I'd say, start off with Mid-range and then try high-rpm turbos to see what you prefer.

If by close gear ratio you mean that you have to go through all your gears to get out of a corner like some people here, you're doing it wrong.
Anyway stage 3 turbo can work on S chassis but they're not the best for tight tracks. I personally prefer the mid range turbo.

Surprising? Really? I know loads of people that use low or mid range turbo's. I use the same close range transmission as well. Everyone's setup is different.

To an extent we all use a close ratio transmission. But on YouTube you can see "drift kings" with ZR1 exiting slow hairpins in 4th at 30mph. This is what I meant when talking about a "close ratio". Today again I saw a video of a comp where the guys started in 3rd gear from a full stop.

No, that's not what I meant at all. I'm not sure how to explain what I mean though. Grrr, I hate it when I can't explain something. :nervous:

Yup, I'm just weird.

You mean that when you shift up the car will still in the powerband so that it don't bog down and lose the drift.
Anyway for some cars the stock gearbox works wonders.

Thanks for wording that for me. :dopey: That's half of it. The other half is if I need to shift down for a corner I can have confidence that there is a gear where I'm in the powerband and it won't bog causing me to lose my drift.

I have the best response from the mid range on tires ranging from comfort hard to comfort soft, but I find that sport hards like the extra power of the high range with shorter gear splits. Since I rarely use 1st, 2nd, or 6th, I can manage a rev drop of less than 1200rpm between my 3rd, 4th, and 5th shifts thus allowing those sport hards to keep smoking.

I only use Stage 1 Turbo on all the Nissan coupes. It helps keep the tires spinning, even in the revs drop below 2000rpm + you get a sweet blow off sound when using bonnet cam :)

I would love it if they added a boost up tuning option. I've been tuning a few S-chassis yesterday. The stage 3 works great with the stock transmission and a welded diff.

I use the stage 1 with a close gear ratio. On my sileighty and a mid range set for the s13 both cars for different track layouts.

Well I'm going to have to say I started out using the low turbos and worked my way up but as of now High range because im shifting gears back and forth because thats what I use instead of the e brake to transision but everyone is differant but then again I'm using the ford GT 800hp the NSX and my low geared 370z.
