What is the Paddock and why should I care?

I tried a few times, and honestly, I am not sure what this feature is trying to do. I'm delaying judgement until I hear back from those that enjoy it.

To my understanding it’s really just a somewhat (but not really) fancy chat room. You can text other players there and also see what car they’re currently using. Never used it myself, but pretty sure that’s what PD said it was when they announced it.
Whatever the specifics, probably a good way to get yourself suspended if you engage with others there if the people talk like they drive in online lobbies.

Never used it but seems like a fancy chatroom as others have said. As a predominantly SP player, I'd be inclined to say that you shouldn't care.

I've tried it a couple of times just to do some VR cruising with mates and look at their liveries. It was fine but also a touch pointless since you can get basically the same experience from starting a free run public lobby. And half the time it doesn't even work and I get an error code.

Everytime I went in and drove my car (it was a while ago so forgive my brain) out of the pits and immediately was set on by two cars the only reason I could find that they attacked me was a Dublin Reg plate and didn't like Dubs we get a bit of the in Ireland lol

Basically a chat room/car showcase. I lot of people make "car show" lobbies so Im sure this was geared towards that.

I’ve never seen much chatting in there, just clownery.

its a public square where you can meet fellow players.
Most suck, but some are incredibly good.
The point is to get the best lap time, or to chase each other.
The physics of the car will adjust as it warms up and you get in to the slip, or someone is tailing you.
Most popular paddock is Tokyo express where the best players will get sub 1:00 on the hawk,

I think paddock serves a purpose. You cant get kicked out by a power tripping host. One too many times ive joined a lobby where the host closes the room the next minute. Off to the paddock then.


Though i wish paddock supported the newer tracks like eiger . Also i never see people on certain servers like south african or middle eastern server. Wouldnt mind using the extra server space to have more tracks in paddock but thats just me.
