What is the point in "Tuner Village" ?

ill sit my butt down tonite and check out what differences (if any) there are when tuning an RX-7, a Skyline and a S-2000 at the different places...

For GT5, I'd like to "challenge" PD to bring in hot American and European tuners. Holden's in GT4, so why not HSV (Holden Special Vehicles)? Here in Houston, I believe we have a well-known American car tuner in Hennessey. So it would be nice to see a few more tuners in. It would be a subculture to Gran Turismo, not to mention a nice way to get into the game, even if you rather prefer a Spoon S2000 over a Dodge Viper. By the way, I'm going to try to mod my Toyota Tacoma right now.

Imagine blasting around teh track with the Hennessey TT Viper truck. gives me chills thinking bout it.

well... i havent done the check yet... since i got hung up on tuning an autobianchi and playing with it... thats a fun car man!

but ill check it tonite and get back here tomorrow, posting my results...

actually i think the only difference might be a couple of hp's and the extra option of buying "original parts".

Btw, just had fun with a subaru spec c with fully mod'd parts and the original parts, it's hella cool...

where is the "Extra option"..? i don't see it..every tuner i go with a Subaru spec C..there is like no options..maybe some one post a pictue pleas.e.?

well i did a quick test...
i took a honda s2000 '03, a mazda rx-7 spirit R type A and a nissan skyline GT-R '00 to the different tuners and the custom in-house tuners and checked what (if any) difference there was in hp output if i fitted them with the largest turbo available (not the level five "original") and the results were that it makes no difference where you tune them... they get the same hp result no matter what...
so i guess the only point of the tuners (except their custom vehicles) are the "original" suspension and turbo tuneups...

can us how me a picture..? of the stage 5 thingy..cause i sure don't see it..

I figured at least the engine/exhaust notes would be different. Has anyone checked for this?

umm... buy yourself an RX-7 and go in to tuner village... go to a tuner... choose the turbo section and there should be five turbo levels instead of four...
(sorry.. cant post pics)

on a sidenote, i think that the weight reduction might be better at the tuner village, but i dont want to do another thest... however i did loose about 200kg on the first level of weight reduction on my supra when i tuned it at toms... and about 100kg on the level 2 reduction...

Have you tried taking the same cars back to the "Dealership" and compared the specs to the "Tuners' Specs"?

Already tried it, i only see 4 turbo stages not 5...

yes..thast why i need a picture..of whatever u guys are talking about and specific cars...with full name..not just "Supra" "rx-7" there are many so be specific thz..

I was hoping that you'd at least get a sticker from the tuner to put on your car to indicate that it's something out of the usual. Or carbon fibre bonnets with the stage 3 weight reduction. Heck you should be able to buy the stickers alone and get an extra 10hp on an otherwise stock car :D

I was also hoping that the tuners would excel in different areas, as indicated in the line of blurb about each company. - ie you take it to tuner x who does the best exhausts for a particular type of car, tuner Y for the best intercooler and tuner Z who specialises in suspension parts.

That would have made it a bit more interesting, as is it seems a bit pointless if everything's the same bar the extra turbo and suspension parts, which themselves seem to be the same from all tuners who can fit it to each car.

I believe it was an experimental idea that never realized its full potential... Maybe it was thrown in for the sake to see what the public's vibe is off of it. If it's positive, there could be an expansion on this idea in GT5 with distinct parts, (dare I entertain the idea) body kits and vinyls for each tuning company.... I wouldn't mind making my own HKS Altezza. :D

There could even be direct competition between companies! You want that extra 50 horsepower in your stage 3 turbo? Pay 7,000 more that the other companies! It is a very cool idea that maybe just didn't materialize (or will in the next incarnation of the game).

Then I read the quote below, and so it shows we think alike. Cool.

Yer, only instead of that i'd just be like, HKS everything for skyline; curve-abflug for Supra; and RE Amimaya(sp?) for RX-7.

They might aswell have not had tuner parts and just had the tuners village as a dealership for tuner cars......I could see the logic if the parts were differently priced or better but if they are the same I see no point.....also if by buying parts from the tuners village your car got stickers plastered on it (like a racing upgrade) then I would see the point of it.....

Oh well.........GT5 :indiff:

I'm just aggervated at how the American cars got shafted... Ford SHO with a big V8 can only take a 70hp shot, while you can have a 500+ or 600+ hp 4 banger subaru with a stage 9 turbo and an original suspension +5 that can pump out a 100hp shot.

Think there should have been some american and european tuner companies...

What's the matter with you? Why mod a Taurus anyhow? I have my own personal tuners, none of them a Taurus. In fact, dig this. The cars I'm have as "project cars" include the following:

2005 Ford Mustang
2003 Honda Accord
2004 Mazda MX-5 Miata 1800RS*
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT#
1998 Toyota Celica GT-Four#
2004 Toyota Tacoma X-Runner
2001 Honda NSX Type-S#
2003 Dodge Neon SRT-4#
2001 Suzuki GSX-R/4#

* = used Tuner Village parts
# = work in progress

The majority of these machines are for agile, impressive performance on race courses, no intent on rally except for maybe the Celica.

If you want American tuners, I think you can look to Roush. Here in Houston, TX, I think we have Hennessey. I recall a 300hp Honda S2000 owned by Speed World Challenge racer Andrew Monterrubio I seen in magazines once. If GT4 had a paint shop feature and the Scion tC was in the game, I'd lovingly mod all my tuners as well as the peppy Scion tC. Don't forget, this isn't a "bling thing" (even though I seen the Photo and Video forums, and had two insane ideas, had I a flash drive to scan my stuff to GTP), instead, this is a performance tuner deal. GT4 is a racing game as well as a tuner's paradise. I see it as a virtual auto community, not so much a racing game- yet it's that too.

They should just have one tuner shop and that's it!
All this going through manufacturers just to buy the same thing for every car is useless. Just call it Universal Shop! that's it, forget "Spoon" "Mugen" "Nismo" etc..
forget going thru menu after menu to just get a freaking muffler.
One shop for all cars!!

You know, TruSake... I disagree. So with a universal Tuning Shop, if had an R34 Skyline and can tune it with serious nitrous boost, an original semi-racing muffler, and a turbo kit being able to put on serious turbo boost, that I can do the same with a 1969 Camaro? No. TO be authentic, you'll have to have some loyalty among tuning groups. The tuner culture is about as big of a culture as any other. There's all sorts of loyalties. You look at Blitz, HKS, Spoon, RE Amemiya... it goes on and on. You can look to any company for your modding needs. All you need to do is lay down the paper (slang for money) for the tuning part in question.

Another reason to have them seperate and not a universal firm is because certain companies do certain jobs with cars. The Amuse S2000 GT1 makes a pretty insane GT2 (no pun intended to the car's title) race car. The Blitz Skyline is the best drift car I've ever used. Take it to a Special Condition race on a tarmac course, you'll be slipping and sliding in style. Some have their opinions about the Tuner Village. Some would say (like you) "let's make it all universal." Others would say, "let's do away with Tuner Village and put in more muscle cars!" Whatever the case, some of the game's most unique machines are in the tuner village. Don't want to spice up your garage with any? Don't have to. You're going to need one in the Tuning Car GP anyhow. That's the thing with GT. If you don't like a certain type of car, if you want 100%, you'll have to use it anyways. So it's almost foolish to say "let's do away with all this." The solution? Get a tuner car and have some fun. Start with the HPA Motorsports R32 Golf, then get to the RE Amemiya ASPARADRINK RX-7. Enjoy!

I just tried with both that S2000 and that rx-7 and went to all the different tuning places and found nothing about original turbos nor suspension. Same price and hp/torque everywhere.

Maybe they didn't include it in the Japanese version that I have:confused:
