What is the world record of each racecourse?

Hi!
I would like to ask for a real and virtual world record of each racecourse
so as to make a comparison between them and set a benchmark for myself.

Thank you!

There are many ways to classify "world record". There's many different cars to choose from and also GT Mode and Arcade mode to choose from. If you're looking for the absolute fastest times done in arcade mode check out the GTRP database: http://db.gtrp.de/gt4_arcade_class.php?classid=16

Those times are done with the Formula One car. Even better than looking at those times however would be to get involved with the weekly race series. Each week a new race is posted and you can compare your times with the many others who submit a time each week. 👍

Though the thread itself had me reaching for the close button - and I have temporarily relented on this - this reply just takes the cake...

somewhere around here theres a record site or thread I'm not sure where though.

Seriously. How did that help the guy along in any way? He's looking for something and, after your response, he's still looking for the same thing with no extra information to help him. Was it really worth the effort of typing and clicking?

tony - Ice's reply is, of course, the correct one. There are several database-maintaining sites around (like The House of GT, GT Racing Point and the much lamented Racing-Line) and each may have their own way of defining world records.

The absolute top track times will be set with the absolute fastest car, like the Polyphony Formula GT for road tracks (except Test Course, which is probably held by the Minolta Toyota 88C-V thanks to its prodigious power and better aerodynamics, and the Nurburgring, which is too bumpy for the F1 to cope properly) or the Escudo Pike's Peak for rally tracks. Racing-Line and the House further award top times for cars in each drivetrain type (MR, FF, FR, RR, 4WD and special sections for F1 and the Escudo). GTRP does it by arbitrarily assigning cars to a "class" and by further dividing up based on the type of tyre used, but will only allow Arcade Mode times.

There were plans afoot at another site - GTTimes (formerly GT3Times) - to give recognition for the top time with each individual car at each track, though those, and indeed the GT4 database itself, have yet to come to fruition.

One thing you can be assured of though is veracity. The sites I mentioned so far all have a rigourous policing policy, helped along by the fact that almost all of the "respected" drivers in the online GT community (and some of us dregs) are registered at all of them. If you see a top time at all of them, it's probably accurate. If you see a top time only at one of them, it might not be. This helps greatly - we don't bust a gut trying to beat a time that isn't possible.

We also have a leaderboard here at GTPlanet, but the software conflicts with the current forum software and so it is, as yet, unavailable.

I reckon this would be good comparison.

A whole spreadsheet with the fastest times (real and GT4) on each car and track.

I'm sure it's possible to find out what the Audi R8's fastest lap was at LeMans and who has done it fastest in the game.

Interesting.

Has there ever been any discrepancy as to which version of the game (PAL or NTSC) will allow faster times? I've heard that cars are faster in PAL. Any creedence to this rumor?

It was commonly held that, in GT3, NTSC/J allowed slightly faster laptimes, though I can't remember the reason or whether there was any actual proof of this.

I couldn't say for GT4, simply because I'm not willing to boot up the awful Japanese version.

In real life or in GT4?

In real life I think Toyota's still in hands of the fastest lap at Le Mans, I'm not sure though...

Really? I thought the Porsche 917LH still held the lap record at Le Mans... back in the days before porsche curve, and all those chicanes.

Anyway, as Jeremy Clarkson proves here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tTQijdc3SI&search=top gear gt4
You can go a lot quicker on your sofa in your house than you can in real life :D

A friend of mine and I were racing at Mid-Field last night and he was able to turn in 54.4 second laps on a pretty consistent basis. I was so happy just to be breaking the 60 second barrier.

I tried to search for "fastest lap Mid-field" in vain. I assume the the text fields are not case sensitive. So I will bear the brunt of Famine's mighty finger of fate and simply ask the question: What's your best time at Mid-Field? We were in the Gran Turismo F1 car.

If you want to try something hysterical get in the big Dodge truck and try some laps. The good news is that if you get in the grass you can't feel it. Speed bumps? We don't need no stinking speed bumps... :-)
