Dear gamewarrior14,

You have received a warning at GTP Forums.

Reason:
-------
Lazy Grammar

When you joined GT Planet you agreed to follow the AUP, part of which is:

AUP
You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

Please ensure all of your future posts follow the AUP.

Regards

Warnings serve as a reminder to you of the forum's rules, which you are expected to understand and follow.

As the message states, you are to follow the AUP when you sign up, as expected on each member. If not, you'll receive infraction points. However depending on the severity of the crime, you'll receive a warning.

And besides, trying to decipher txttlk makes most of us want to kick a baby in the face with a puppy.
Just type normally like the rest of us and it'll be fine.
And the problem with your post was the plz, and the run on sentance. No periods or commas or anything.

It's perfectly fair.

You agreed to it when you signed up, it is not discriminating.

Also, what does this have to do with GT5?

Thats not fair because I have difficulty with things like grammar and spelling it discriminating its not fair :(

Just type a bit more slowly if you're typing fast and be a bit more aware of what you write. You'll get the hang of it 👍

I dont understand how to use commas and things I understand the please but none of the other stuff and i forgot i was in gt5 forum when i posted. will you get a warning for saying please in text talk?

Saying plz instead of please. How bout, next time you're in English class listen to your teacher and learn? The rest of us here have so why can't you?

It's pretty simple on how & where to place your commas and periods. Just say it out and try each one. And just a quick tip: Commas are used for quick pauses, or for listing items, and periods is for a long pause, or to end a sentence or statement 👍

As I said on my previous post:

Commas are for short pauses or listing items.
Periods are for long pauses or to end a sentence or statement.

👍

I saw that and thankyou for helping unlike some :)
thankyou.

No problem 👍 And here's an example from the post that was taken as a warning to the Mods:

Before: ok im on the american championship with bob and im on laguna seca and he just cant gain places i keep telling hime to overtake and go faster im using corvette zr1 c6 rm any car suggestions are very welcome

After: Okay, I'm on the American Championship with my Bob on Laguna Seca and he just can't gain places. I keep telling him to overtake and go faster. I'm using the Corvette ZR1 C6 RM for this event. Any car suggestions to help me are very welcome.

If you were to say the Before passage with no periods or commas, you won't have any chance to pause to take a breath, losing verbal integrity throughout.

Oh ok i see now :). Thanks you've just helped me loads. :)

Correction

Not being rude, just pointing out where you need to put capital letters and punctuation marks. Your grammar isn't even that bad anyway, all you need is to remember is names of things (America, Honda, Obama) require capital letters at the beginning.

Edit: Tree'd. At least I bolded the corrections! :P

I really appreciate GTP's policy on grammar. Here we have less problems with "lazy language" than other forums.

However, sometimes it seems a bit strict, especially when those not too fluent in English get a hard time for policy violation. If one can speak English to a decipherable extent and wants to participate in this forum, I don't think they should be warded off by elitists. We can all ultimately read what they're writing, so they shouldn't be deprived of a privilege others never think twice about: involvement in this wonderful GTP community. I have no sympathy for laziness, but things should be loosened up a bit for those who are unable to speak perfect English.

Thanks too everyone who helped :).
And to MitchZ06 There was no need to be insulting towards me. Just think before you post things like that there are people who have worse lerning diffculties than me and that can be very hurtful Id like you to either help or dont post in future. thanks

If you have Microsoft Word, or probably most other word processor programs such as that in the free OpenOffice suite, you could also type your post in that (and later copy/paste it here), ensuring you have spelling and grammar correction on. Not only will it help you correct any errors, hopefully it will help you learn too, at your own pace. :)

Sorry if it's condescending but there's people with worse disabilities than you that have done more in their life than other people. If you make an effort to try instead of using an excuse to try and get around putting in the effort (you had a tutor? how did that go?...) then you'll be much better off than you think you are now. Just saying....

you said I didnt try and I did hense the tutor/extra lessons but people worse off than me probably have done better than me but thats them not me thay may not struggle with this but i do and i was saying the people that do can take affence by you saying i hadn't tried but I have thats all im saying. so I did put in effort but because i didnt try hard enough thats makes me an idiot to you?

Never said you were an idiot, just you didn't put in the effort.

(Your last sentence makes no sense apart from the very last 7 words.)

so going to a tutor and extra english lessons isnt putting in the effort then i dont understand what is.

Anyway endof my point was why post if your not going too help, and just be offensive too me and others you may not think you were but you were.

By joining GTPlanet, you agreed to follow its rules. If you can't follow its rules, you shouldn't have joined. Sometimes the truth hurts. Now if what you said really did happen to you, I encourage you to never give up and keep trying. Don't let the bad situation weigh you down.

It's just one of the rules around here, we're all expected to obey them. It's like the saying goes.. 'Freedom isn't Free' ...Bedsides, most people appreciate proper grammar anyway. :) I recommend using Google Chrome, it has built-in spell check & has helped me countless times.

Also Another little rule of thumb is that you shouldn't double post (E.G. Clicking 'Post Reply' right after you've posted without anyone else posting). It is considered spam, It's best to Edit the previous post instead of making another one. I'm not trying to be a back seat moderator, but it's a little tip that helps from getting is a fuss with the Administrators any more that you have to. :scared:

I'm cynical when people claim to have this or that as an excuse to be lazy. Because of the anonymity (sp?) the internet affords and the vagueness of the term 'learning difficulties' it's hard to take claims such as those seen here and elsewhere seriously.
