A lot of us are attracted to the first car with decent speed we see. Our loyalties falter, yet we often return, but, at the same time, each new toy with an upgraded suspension catches our eye. The new toy makes us reconsider our chosen loyalties, the new Ferrari comes out and we yearn for it. Immediately, torque, horsepower, exhaust note, we most know all we can, it's from Italy, France, Germany, it was forbidden fruit and now we can have it. But that is that, and these are my views, views which may anger some, views which might be agreed with, but no direct attack is meant on person our nation.

My thoughts will be given as they come into my head.

British cars

Here we have some of the sexiest cars in the world, sexy in body and from the cultural sophistication of the builder country, refers to the luxury cars of course. All designers should strive to mimmick the XKs, I happen to like the XJ8s a fair amount. I much prefer green to red, so the racing colors of GB give it a point up over Italy for, but there is a personal dislike, headlights. From images Ive seen of some cars, they are often laden with multiple headlights stacked over each other, or in some peculiar pattern. Some just look like insects. Case in point would be one of the TVRs. I don't remember which model TVR, but one seems to have 12 lights on it. I don't know how common the bug-eyed look is, but it does nothing for me.

Italian Cars

Nothing says speed like Italian cars. Their bodies are speed. Butt ugly Ialian cars say speed. Melt one down and the ashes would say speed, but as fast and powerful as they seem, from pictures they give a look of being girthy, as American cars do, I am sure they are not so big, but the wedge design of some does not scream, "I am petite!" I also think the focus on curves may be overdone at times.

General

I like agrression and simplicity, a car that was designed as a macho, in your face, I've got the goods kind of machine. Modding econo-boxes, the newest German sedan, the fastest Ferrari, the last two examples are fine, but one is still a sedan, and the other would be loved if it was a cardboard box, these impress me, but my loyalty remains.

It isn't the fastest, or the most attractive to some, but I have remained mostly loyal to one car (I currently do not own any cars at this time, incase you are wondering), the so-so handling Firebird model range. It has a tough look, might be gaudy, might be crude. Technology needs work, but it has, dare I say it, a bit of an understatedness to it, but to this I attribut the early third-gen models, sleek, not so fast, but still exuding a machismo that is undeniable. Call it cumbersome, an oaf, but more than any Ferrari with silly curves, or Mini Cooper with a size below my personal taste, though it has a great racing background. The TA has proven its worth only a small bit, it is inferior to many, but from so many years ago where I first saw one, I wish I could remember the occasion, and gazed upon its previous incarnations I knew that that is the car I love, a car which had a look that was at least unique compared to other designs I remembered from the times each model was from. Keep your European exotics, advanced Japanese cars, and other fancy marks from abroad and the US, even the Corvette, but praise them all. I'm a loyal guy, so give me my K.I.T.T., my Trans Am.

Ty, for reading.

Now express your, I suspect opposite, view.

Well, I disagree :P

Seriously though, I don't think Ferrari has "silly curves" as you put it. Lots of folks believe that these are timeless cars, and the most beautiful ones ever made at that! So prepare for an uphill battle in that respect.

TVR Tuscan Speed 6 has too many lights, agree. But if someone gave me one I wouldn't turn them down.

Personally I like firebirds, used to own one, as a matter of fact the guy upstairs from me has a WS6 that shakes the whole house upon startup 😈

As far as loyalty, I guess I don't have a specific one...

Silly was dumb, but I do sometimes think these "exotics" over do it.

It's like the car below, I trust many will call it beautiful, and it has its beauty, but I still have that bit of so-so attitude toward it. I don't know what's been said by auto journalists overall.

heres my :2cents: worth
Japanese

High tech little shopping carts most and say most are nothing more than what mum would use to do the shopping and pick up the kids from school ..and the this generation as gone and added the most stupid looking fins flares whatt ever to make them the most laughable things on the road they have spent rediculas amounts of money to make these little toy cars rev there guts out to try and prove hoe great they are

I know this will cause some flack but its how i fell

jag_man, ever thought of using ponctuation? your posts are very hard to read...

I'm not making any comments though... lets just say i could live without cars from the USA...

First thoughts to come to my mind when thinking about different kinds of cars...

Japanese cars: in general, very plain, almost ugly. Mostly look like they need a little key in the back that you use to wind them up with. Occasional good looking ones, like the old 2000 GT and old Datsun 240z's. Then you've got your Supras, 3000 GTs, and NSXs, which look great but are kinda underpowered stock. Older japanese cars ('70s, '80s are oldest ones I've ever seen) are usually held together by duct tape and chicken wire.

In general, Japanese cars and others from that general area (Korean, etc.), are just too plain looking. They just don't do it for me.

American Cars: Muscle Cars. Old muscle cars. '69 Boss 429, '67 Fastback Mustang, red with 2 white stripes, fog lights, all the good stuff, '72 Hemi Cuda in sub-lime with black stripes and shaker hood. The best of all: Black '69 Corvette, built up like a drag car. Now that's a car. So what if it gets 8 miles to the gallon. When built right, it'll outrun anything else on the road, and look great doing it.

Italian Cars: Supercars. Does anyone in Italy make normal cars? :P
Lamborghini designs are going downhill, getting too smoothed out, they don't have the in your face look that the old Countach's had.
Ferrari's are great, though that one car they make sure does look like a Camaro with a body kit...

Others? Is Bugatti Italian? They look like overweight doorstops :P

European cars in general: Mostly small hatchbacks whose "sports model" version has 120 hp, nothing to get excited about.

German cars: Quality, though mostly boring looking (read: BMWs except cars like Z3 and Z8) Porsches are fast, even if they do look like stretched out VW Beetles.

British: great looking cars, though Jaguars are generally boring looking (all those 4 door luxury sedans I mean, the others are great), supposedly break down real easy (look at it wrong, it won't start).
