A lot of us are attracted to the first car with decent speed we see. Our loyalties falter, yet we often return, but, at the same time, each new toy with an upgraded suspension catches our eye. The new toy makes us reconsider our chosen loyalties, the new Ferrari comes out and we yearn for it. Immediately, torque, horsepower, exhaust note, we most know all we can, it's from Italy, France, Germany, it was forbidden fruit and now we can have it. But that is that, and these are my views, views which may anger some, views which might be agreed with, but no direct attack is meant on person our nation.
My thoughts will be given as they come into my head.
British cars
Here we have some of the sexiest cars in the world, sexy in body and from the cultural sophistication of the builder country, refers to the luxury cars of course. All designers should strive to mimmick the XKs, I happen to like the XJ8s a fair amount. I much prefer green to red, so the racing colors of GB give it a point up over Italy for, but there is a personal dislike, headlights. From images Ive seen of some cars, they are often laden with multiple headlights stacked over each other, or in some peculiar pattern. Some just look like insects. Case in point would be one of the TVRs. I don't remember which model TVR, but one seems to have 12 lights on it. I don't know how common the bug-eyed look is, but it does nothing for me.
Italian Cars
Nothing says speed like Italian cars. Their bodies are speed. Butt ugly Ialian cars say speed. Melt one down and the ashes would say speed, but as fast and powerful as they seem, from pictures they give a look of being girthy, as American cars do, I am sure they are not so big, but the wedge design of some does not scream, "I am petite!" I also think the focus on curves may be overdone at times.
General
I like agrression and simplicity, a car that was designed as a macho, in your face, I've got the goods kind of machine. Modding econo-boxes, the newest German sedan, the fastest Ferrari, the last two examples are fine, but one is still a sedan, and the other would be loved if it was a cardboard box, these impress me, but my loyalty remains.
It isn't the fastest, or the most attractive to some, but I have remained mostly loyal to one car (I currently do not own any cars at this time, incase you are wondering), the so-so handling Firebird model range. It has a tough look, might be gaudy, might be crude. Technology needs work, but it has, dare I say it, a bit of an understatedness to it, but to this I attribut the early third-gen models, sleek, not so fast, but still exuding a machismo that is undeniable. Call it cumbersome, an oaf, but more than any Ferrari with silly curves, or Mini Cooper with a size below my personal taste, though it has a great racing background. The TA has proven its worth only a small bit, it is inferior to many, but from so many years ago where I first saw one, I wish I could remember the occasion, and gazed upon its previous incarnations I knew that that is the car I love, a car which had a look that was at least unique compared to other designs I remembered from the times each model was from. Keep your European exotics, advanced Japanese cars, and other fancy marks from abroad and the US, even the Corvette, but praise them all. I'm a loyal guy, so give me my K.I.T.T., my Trans Am.
