Surprisingly I am able to remember quite a few things from earlier than four years old. The reason I think I'm able to do so is because at age four my brother was born and I moved into a different house. Three of the earliest memories I have are:

-Laying down on a quilt or blanket in my living room while my dad was kneeling over me taking a picture. (2-8 months old)

-Sitting up on the floor in my living room while my parents and their friends were sitting on our old couches. I specifically remember looking at a guy with dark, long hair. (6 months to 1 year & 6 months)

-Sitting up in a blue kiddie pool in my back yard staring at the sun's reflection off of the water. (1-2 years)

In order from earliest to latest:

1. About a year old, played my first game. Gran Turismo, of course. :sly:

2. First plane ride from Kingsland, Georgia to somewhere in Ohio.

3. Got to see my step-dad's butt catch on fire.

I have vague memories from when I was about two, the most prominent of which was waking up in the crib to the sound of my mom blow drying her hair in the bathroom. She'd get me dressed and fed for the morning and go to work for what felt like an eternity. During the day my dad would usually take me to his gym in his beige Camry, where I'd run around, push strollers as fast as I could and loiter around the front desk. I can very vaguely remember the long drive to my grandparents' old house, mostly this tunnel that you went through on the highway, which was quite entertaining to my two year old self. I also remember when one of my grandmothers would take me to preschool in her old Sentra, which I very distinctly remember having that awful whorehouse red interior. But mostly I remember her shifting the gears and not understanding what that big stick in the center was for.

Ain't got a lot of old memories. The earliest I can remember is my dad pulling a metal piece(Rectangle with with one line of large circular holes) off of the underside of the Ford Escort station wagon when he pulled up to the camping site. Another one I can remember is the old Kenwood stereo audio system that my parents used to own that could play AM, FM, cassettes, and vinyl LP's. Always admired the huge cabinet holding it all and I had some nice Christmas memories at home with it(I was and still am the first to open Christmas presents as soon as my parents were ready while they played the Christmas music. I tore through those Christmas presents like they were nothing!).

@Doog: Just reminded me of some tunnels underground in Ohio. It was and is still my favorite part about the 10 hour travel from New York to Ohio to meet a part of my family every few years. The difference in the sound in the tunnels are still very interesting.

I remember a lot of things from a young age. But one of the things that gets me, as could very well be a false memory, but I think I can remember being born. I was born c section. I remember it being very dark and very warm and a loving environment. Next thing I knew, a lot of light came from nowhere but hadn't fully cut into the amniotic sac so I saw a very blurry almost blue-ish green fluid or something but I remember those colors very vividly. Then I remember being pulled out and being very cold while staring up at a bunch of faces.

It could very we be a false memory but some part of me feels that t happened. I have had that memory as long as I live.

I remember two things:

NASCAR and Gran Turismo.

In fairness, I guess, my childhood wasn't horrible.

Edit: Nope, three things. I also remember the '95/'96 DTM series.

I remember next to nothing, I didn't really go around thinking "I'm 3 months old and I'm having a new diaper, that's a memory to preserve"

One of my earliest memories was a on a trip to my great-grandmother in the early 00's. On the trip there I saw my first real-life rally car (Group N Impreza, WRC replica livery :drool: ) and on the very same trip a distant relative (I forgot his name, after all it's about 10 years ago) introduced me to GT2 and Suzuki Escudo. I think that was what got me really interested in motorsport, particularly.. Well, guess three times from my username :sly:

My earliest memory is getting a baby toy that played music when I pulled on a string. I was too weak to pull it all the way down so my mother helped me. That was 24 years ago, when I was half a year old. I still have the toy!

My 1st birthday party, I got a lambo countach police car toy - it was pretty big in a bulky box, always remember that !!!

The more I think of my past, I remembered playing a giant teddy bear at my uncle's house when I was about 6 to 9 months old - not too sure, I was crawling around the sofa, I remembered the brown colored leather and the smell :yuck:

Very early memories usually come from constantly seeing childhood pictures which make you think you remember the moment when you probably don't. That said my earliest non photo related one is of me picking up stones in a train track when I was about 3. I remember that because I've been reminding myself of it as my earliest memory since I was a kid but over all these years it's possible I could have modified the memory somewhat.

I don't exactly believe in that, as I have correct memories (as confirmed by parents) from a young age that the article you linked seems to pass off as childhood amnesia. For example, I remember living in our apartment at only a few months of age. We moved to my current home around then, then tore that down and put another one up in the same spot before I was 5. I also remember cutting teeth, and I had a full mouth before I was a year old. Another, being cradled in my grandmothers arms. She passed away within 4 months of being born. I also remember lieing on the floor at my other grandmothers house staring at the fan (fan was my first word, I used to point them out and say it all the time) and kicking around, and sitting in my dads arms in a very specific position and he had a beer in his hand, it was a Genesee in a dark blue can. This was also before I was a year old. I'd say it's quite possible.

I can remember being just over one years old, fifteen-eighteen months to be exact, and visiting a petting zoo. I remember it then, I remember it now. Verified by the parent who took me there.

I remember lots of things from a young age. I have a good chronological memory of remembering events that happen in my life. Very few memories are of the sort where you see an old picture and then your memory is jogged and you remember. But the zoo one is the earliest.

I have a bunch of snap shot memories from growing up. 1st real big memory was going to the mountains for a pick-nick with my uncle in his Cobra II. I must have been 3 or 4 since it was still a pretty new car at the time.

I barely remember going to a nearby park with my parents while I was like 2 years of age when they were off duty - often myself running around inside the grounds like I did not savvy the word "fatigue" at all(both of my parents had difficulty grasping hold of me once I get quit of their hands commencing to rush up like an overly-vigorous brat :D) making them cross to their mind that I might have the latent talents for open-air athletics. :)

Also I do recollect myself of the childhood memories that I was pretty much in favor with flowers and the objects I found to be good-looking. I always gazed at them for a long time without going off with them in a half-way until my parents urged me to go somewhere else... afterwards that they often used to say that they had taken up too much time awaiting me to toddle somewhere else or fire up doing other things than just staying to clap my eyes on those stationary sight forever... which may later turned up to be a convincing peg why I'm having a fancy for arts. :)

Thirdly, I do recall while playing around with my pupils in the kindergarten, I fell into the ground heels over my head and soon the curator ran up to me to
give the first medical aid... which was one of the most painful experiences for me and I don't wanna look back at any minute as my earlier childhood remembrances. :(

Instead I did get a line on resident evil 3 that became my very first one on an electronic console - which is why for now I'm this an ill-bred dude.

At what age did you take the ride of a plane for the first time?

I remember being born.

This is the most sensible answer I stumbled upon here.

Are you talking about things that didn't happen but you thought it did because you imagined/pictured it in your mind when your parents tells you stories about it? I think that's what most people here are remembering when they say they remember stuff from their childhood because I can't remember anything. Even the things I think I remember might just be made up by my imagination from watching movies, playing video games, day dreaming. I think that's also how deja vus happen.

I think the thing I properly legit remember from my childhood was when I was 4 years old, when me and my parents went to pick up my baby brother from the nanny. I think I remember the road leading to the nanny's house and the couch she had in her house. Lol, memories, what is real and what is made up, I'm not even sure.

Uh, how old are you?

That game came out less than 10 years ago.

At this moment I can only remember as far as being approximately 5-6 years old and seeing our current house being built by my father and his friend.

I think I could remember some earlier events some years ago but I guess they weren't worth remembering as I forgot about them.

Oh my God I LOVED MC3 Remix... I played it for hours and hours when I was about 9 or 10... it came out 2005, and back there I was 9...
