What kind of Mouse do you use?

Well, we have all kinds of threads devoted to Graphics cards, Sound cards, CD burners, and other things, but I can't remember any threads on mice.
A good mouse is often the most overlooked PC peripheral, but easily one of the most important especially if you work with a PC or are a gamer.
I got a Logitech MX700 and couldn't be more pleased. It's optical, cordless and has a base charger (since I'm not willing to use a mouse that relies on batteries that I'd have to change often.)
It replaces (demotes actually to my backup PC) my old Logitech Dual optical which was easily the smoothest mouse I've ever used. (Replacing a MS intellimouse Explorer which lost use of a button, rendering it useless for Counterstrike. ;))
While The MX700 isn't as smooth as my old dual optical, it's easily the match of the MS optical mouse, which is surprising since it's cordless.
It also has more buttons than I've had in a while (8 including the wheel button.) and weighs more than one might expect.
Anyhoo, I'm curious what everyone else is using and thought I'd start a thread.

Wow! Logitech's MX mice sure have a good reputation...

I'm the owner of the 700's wired cousin, the Logitech MX 500.

It's an awesome little gem... precise, powerful, and, my favorite, it's got buttons galore! (Yes, I've assigned all eight buttons to certain tasks). My one and only problem is that I have smallish Asian hands, so the huge bulb makes it uncomfortable for me to use it for long periods of time. Otherwise, it was worth every penny. :)

Heck, I might as well list what I have each button programmed to do:
  1. Left-Click: Normal click, of course!
  2. Right-Click: Right click
  3. Middle Application Switch Button: Command+9, which, on my Mac, invokes a neat little pop-up on my screen that allows me to control iTunes (volume, tracks, etc.) without actually going to the iTunes program
  4. Scroll Wheel Click: Command+. (period), which is the "Stop/Cancel" command for most Mac applications
  5. Cruise Up Button: Home (I have the scroll wheel set to the largest increments, so I use this button to quickly get to the top of a document)
  6. Cruise Down Button: End
  7. Foreward Button: Option (I set it to "Option", because in my web browser, one can use Option+press the scroll wheel back or forth one increment instead of hitting "Back" or "Foreward"... this way, I don't use up two buttons for a similiar task :D)
  8. Back Button: Option+Shift+J (my browser uses tabs [like Mozilla], and this combination switches between tabs)
    [/list=1]

A regular piece of crap Microsoft mouse at work that I use lefthanded.

At home - Logitech optical mouse I use right handed. I love that thing. If I'm being superlazy on the laptop, sitting back on the couch, I use it on my chest.

Now that they come with rechargers I might get me one of those cordless opticals.

Wow... Logitech certainly seems to have the mouse industry cornered (according to the results of this thread. ;))

Hey... Did this forum just disappear and move somewhere else?

Microsoft Intellimouse Optical! - Yah Microsoft!

The first one got screwed....under warranty got a new one.
The second also stuffed up and got a new one through warranty.
The third still works!

The moral of the story is never trust microsoft unless you are a fool!

MS Intellimouse optical.

Probably the best mouse I have ever had.

I use a Microsoft Wheelmouse at home. I tried a cordless optical, and it was rubbish, so it went back. I simply prefer the feel of Microsoft mice.

For my Linux server I bought the cheapest mouse I could find and could stand to have in my hand, which was a 3 button Logitech.

Both mice at work are Microsoft Wheelmice.

Micro$haft - Intelli Optical / Explorer.

It seems fairly popular on this site???

I bought it primarily for buying for playing counter strike...... So far i'm not impressed. I wonder if it'll just be a case of getting used to it before i see improvements in my game or if it just doesn't suit my hand. But the way i've been playing with it recently i wish I'd stuck with my old wheel mouse from Logitech.
