What is considered the most effective launch?

After some tweaking, I've found that a perfect launch is when you floor it, and the RPM is steady until the speed of the car matches the RPM of the gear.

I may be wrong, so correct me:sly:

depends on the car, some tire spin/smoke is encouraged, you don't want it to bog out and drop revs, but at the same time you don't want to be bouncing off the rev limiter in 1st or whatever gear you launch in, find a happy medium and practice launching against others until you find which ratio gives you the best launch

Also, if the launch is in seconds, (i.e. 45) when the clock turns to the 8th or 9th millisecond (ie. 44.821), go. By the time your car reacts, it should be about at the (45) second mark.

👍 This

I generally go on the .8xx myself. I've managed to get most of my cars geared so that they'll never actually hit the redline in first from launch if they do spin up the tyres. The SL600 for example will spin the tyres but launch super-hard and still be spinning at 60mph ready for 2nd gear. It's still a tough car to beat because of the sheer power and torque.
I also use the RA menu (mapped to the L3 button) to adjust 4wd torque splits to compensate for tyre choice and degradation etc. (Also if the gearing's too long to remove some of the excess bogging)

Keep in mind the temperature of the tires before the launch. If you set your launch at a "just right" on cold tires, it may bog down once it gets warmer.
