Well I was wondering how many people here can play an instrument well enough to say they can play it!

Well I am learning teh Drum Kit so there ya go......I also know some basic sneer stuff drum stuff!

My parents made me take piano lessons from the age of 6 to 11, I'm no Beethoven however. :D

I play piano, but singing is my specialty. I've also played the drums, violin, clarinet and organ.. learning to play the guitar and wish to learn any other instrument I can get my hands on.

Can you play a stereo?

Then, you are somewhat musically inclined.
You don't exactly play a stereo...the steroe plays the music. Yes, I can put a cd in and hit the play button if that is considered playing a stereo.

I play guitar, both acoustic and electric, violin since I was 6, piano a little, trombone, and sing fairly well. But my family's pretty musical so..... yeah. Woooo music.

Guitar and drums, both exceedingly poorly. BTW - not to be picky, but if you can play acoustic guitar, you can play electric, and vice-versa. Same for piano/keyboard. ;)

And I would have liked to have seen oboe. It's so much fun to say. Try it. Say "Oboe".

I bet everyone said "Oboe" a few times and smiled. You know you did. I heard you. ;)

Actually, I was really just kidding with the stereo crack.
If you can tap your foot on the 1 and 3, or 2 and 4 beat of a song you can learn to play the guitar. Some of the greatest guitar players (Hendrix and SRV) in recent history didn't even read music.
One of my favorite players doesn't know any chords (B.B. King).
All you need is a little bit of rhythm, a RUDIMENTARY understanding of music theory, and a big bottle of witch hazel (to soak your sore fingers in while you're learning). Add to that a couple of good lesson books (with CD), and videos, and a strong desire to suceed and you will be a guitar player before you know it.
I started learning to play again at 30. I'm still learning.

WARNING: It can become an addiction. It is a very cool feeling, making your own tunes.:D

Not really , at least for the guitar playing. Song acoustic/nylon string players don't play electric very well... but i guess thats just different styles... so i guess you are right...:embarrassed:

I'm in a band so you kind of just try out every instrument when your jamming. I am really a guitar player. I play acoustic and electric, but I play my little bro's drums a little bit (I'm alright for not having any lessons).

I can play my bandmates bass pretty well too.

Use to take piano lessons, so I still have some of that in me as well.

I love music, can't get enough of it.

This is certainly true, escpecially about the addiction. It is also writing your music, and it's even better when your band (if your in one), plays the song together and it sounds freakin awesome! You get chills up and down your spine. You just have to step back and take a moment and say damn that was cool! :D

I played today with the worship team at church. It's the first time I've played standing up and for that long in a couple of months.
My fingertips are killing me, and both of my forearms are just aching. It's a good ache though.

I own a beat up old Gibson electric 6-string, but I will barely admit to being able to play it. 15 years ago I was better but I've lost 90% of what I once had. Same with piano, but make that 25 years ago.

I can't manage anything more than a simple back beat on the drums.
