What Place is This? Lets find out.

Does any one know where this place would be?
I'd found a clue on the second screenshot (Mercedes car) spotting a Finland flag.
Please we need to know where this place is. Thank You.đź‘Ť

GT5 - France?

I agree DARC. The background almost looks like a real picture with a GT5 car pasted in, until you look deeper.

The cobble stones and the chairs don't look real, but they fit into the shot well anyway. It is a fantastic looking game, there's certainly no denying that.

My guess on the location is that the Finland flag in the Mercedes shot is a bit of a clue.

GT5 - France?
The picture clearly states Prologue on it.

The only clues I got from it were based on the architecture styles and the script of "cafe". It looks central Western European, say, Bavarian or Swiss (maybe near the Eiger mountain), and the font sort of supports that idea.

It is going to take a lot more research or to get a lucky break (someone who has been there), to pin-point it, though, before the game is released.

Cheers,

MasterGT

-> Maybe its Eiger's next-door neighbor, Grindelwald!

One could only hope. Ive heard that there will be around 40 cars and 8 tracks in GT5 Prologue, but has PD given a number of Photo Mode venues yet. i can only remember two, this and the London shot.

By the way Vanishing Boy I see that you and your Wish List have gotten pretty popular around the internet LOL.

^ I know, and I was completely shocked about it!

BT-> Maybe the Grindelwald won't be a race track on GT5P, but will be in GT5. but for now only as a photomode or menu screen. :)

If it does come down to Belgium, it could provide a nice hint about racing at Spa-Francorchamps. And with 16 cars to a track, it would be an awesome track to race at.

My short list of where this venue could be located comes down to (in terms of countries) Germany, Switzerland, or perhaps France. Could just be in a totally different location. Imagine if this were Helsinki, Finland; Stockholm, Sweden; or some place like that.

Don't tease me John. You know that just gets my hopes up. :D
But I think it might be Belgium. Although, that design on the house on the back makes me think Switzerland....

I doubt it's near Nurburg, though, if anything. I would expect a photomode location in the actual parking lot of the Nurburgring if it was near that area.

Don't raise my hopes with Spa-Francorchamps. I love this track as much as Nurburgring and if it will be in GT, my dream come true :)

My guess is that it might be an outdoor cafe in Switzerland, PD really showcased Eiger Nordwand in GTHD, so i am sure they have a photo location around that area.

Judging from the inclination (?) of the house's roofs, it has to be somewhere where it snows A LOT.

I'm not totally positive on this, but I don't think Spa gets that much snow. Lots of rain I know it has, but not snow (not a lot of it, at least).

My bet goes to Switzerland, due to the architecture of the building on the right, and that I remember seeing somewher pics of Bern (or at least I think it was) with cobblestone pavement much similar to that.

I dont have a clue about were the place is, but I just wanted to say:

THOSE GRAPHICS ARE BLOODY AMAZING!!!

My guess is that that is either the town of NĂĽrburg or the town of Adenau. Looking at the architecture, it strongly suggests Germany.
The finnish flag suggests a hotel, and the church is also suggesting german architecture.

Germany is by best guess as well.

The flag is found in another pic from the same place. Took me some time to locate it in the background, but it´s clearly a flag.

My guess goes to germany as well. South of germany to be exact. Somewhere near the black forrest i'd say :dopey:

maybe this is a stretch... but what about north western italy??? in the south tyrol region. this area is right on the borders of italy, austria and germany. it's very mountainous, and more germanic in style... but being that it's a ferrari... maybe this would make sense

A friend suggested the same thing (northern Italy), but using the Ferrari is not a good enough reason to think this because they also used a Mercedes at the same site. (There are no restrictions on what cars can be used in Photo Mode locations.)

I just don't think it has the feel of northern Italy.

I found it.

Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.
Wikipedia
Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler is a town in the German Bundesland of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is the capital of the Ahrweiler district. It is a renowned spa and it has a casino. The A61 motorway connects the town with cities like Cologne and Mainz. The city consists of two parts, Bad Neuenahr in the east and Ahrweiler in the west.

Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler is situated 30km from Nurburgring in the Ahr Valley, apparently GermanyÂ’s best vine growing area. Quite appropriate considering YamauchiÂ’s love of wine and the fact PolyphonyÂ’s server room also doubles as a wine cellar. ;)đź‘Ť

More images at Panoramio.

On the Google Earth image the cathedral can be seen in the middle-left of the selection with the remaining courtyard area; outside youÂ’ll see the distinctive shape of the city wall. I guess this is where the archways are that the Alfa and Audi drove through in the latest trailer.

Awesome work, ALPHA.

That should end the location debate. + rep đź‘Ť
