What Racing Games Are Better than GT5?

The first two Seasonal Challenges is a good example limit the player on tires and hp/weight limits. In A spec if the AI run on soft sports then I run on medium or hard sports with close to the same hp and weight. It's the same if someone wants a super easy race they put on soft racing against AI with soft sports.

Rfactor, netkar pro, iracing, gtr2...... Much better physics and realism. Maybe you haven't tried them but i recommend that you do. If you think gt5 has good physics you will get blown away by those games
I have rFactor, GTR Evo, GTR2, Live For Speed basic and a few others, and while they're all decent games, as others have said, PC racing is just too restricted and sterile for me. Well, and there's no way I'm paying the ridiculous prices to rent iRacing. Call me silly, but GT5 really does feel very similar to games like GTR and LFS to me.

I'll give Shifty 2 - a typo I find rather amusing ;) - and Forza 4 a sniff, but I'm not expecting anything comparable to GT5. So looks like it's GT5 for me, probably until GT6 comes along.

I am pretty new to racing games(only played GT prologue F12010 and now GT5) so I cant add too much to the discussion(s) about this stuff but:

I notice alot of people talk about previous games in the GT series. Were there just as many people with disgruntled about the series/its directions/Kaz's choices as now? Or fewer?

No. Gt5 has caused a firestorm of disgruntled and downright angry users. I was happy with GT5 until I realized they ripped out the awesome tracks like midfield, apricot, el Capitan, Seattle, etc. etc. etc.

I don't care how bad the shadows and the online experience is, PD......just GIVE US BACK OUR MUTHA FU***** TRACKS!!!

The gaming industry has exploded over the past few years. There were far fewer AAA titles in the past. GT4 was colossal when compared to other console racing games of the time. So people remember how awesome it felt to be playing GT4.

In 2011 the gaming industry is huge. It's big money and the competition is much much tougher. It much more difficult to totally outclass the competition. So, you'll probably never experience anything like the feeling of playing GT4 back in 2004 (?).

I've been wanting to try TDU2 but i hear its plauged with bugs. FM3 may have the steering assist you can't turn off, but variety? the customization in FM3 beats GT5 ten fold. IMO FM3 is more of a racing game then GT5 at the moment anyways.

It should be worth noting as most people here have absolutely no idea of it. The steering assist that cant be turned off is not too different from the input dampening applied to pads in GT5. When you use a wheel (fanatec atleast) in fm3, all steering assists are infact removed.

This is actually the reason I stopped playing forza online as this whole situation makes it easier to be quick on a pad than on a wheel.

Anyone ever try this game yet? it was/is a PS3 download.
Yes, I have Ferrari the race experience. And love It. I already had Supercar Challenge and loved the driving feel of that game, but didn't have Ferrari Challenge. For 15 euro It was worth the download. It is in fact a souped of version of Ferrari Challenge, and while I have SCC, I am still happy I bought It. The racing feel is magnificent. It is a blast to load It form hard disk, and within a few minutes I am in the middle of a one make (ferrari/one type career race on one of the many real life circuits. One thing they did improve against SCC and probably the original FC is AI. This is a white knuckles race game from beginning till the end. Worth the 15 euro If you ask me. I actually play It more than GT5. It' s on par with SCC.

You should join our group. We all use wheels, hence the name "Wheel Racers". We're not anal about our racing but we do take it serious in that we race serious. No ramming and all sorts of childish behavior but we do get competitive.

Thanks for the info. Might have to dl this one. How is the online aspect?

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit is better than GT5 to get a lot of action on fast tracks with some great cars.

MX VS ATV Reflex is a lot better when it comes to offroad action and getting dirty.

GTA IV is better than GT5 when you need to cruise along streets :D

Too much shaky cam - I hope that is just trailer effects and not game experience. But yes, isn't is completely fricken obvious how crucial the sound is to the driving experience?

A sensitivity option would be neat for stuff like the camera shake. Wouldn't hurt if something like that was in GT5, either :D

And, yeah, sound is important. Don't understand why nobody seems to care about, while everyone drools over the graphics.

Make of it what you will, but...
The. Sound.

I've said this before, even had it quoted on other forums, but I'll have to say it again. EA should stop making games and just write stories and make movie trailers and commercials because these guys are the MASTERS of hype. lol. Not an indictment on the game itself but EA sure knows how to hype the hell outta of game.

The sounds are o-tones (original sound samples) overlaid on the video, not really ingame sound.

And you know it's not going to sound like that (or close to it) because...?

well, I can think of at least one company that is at the very least just as good as hyping stuff up.

*cough*Expect perfection*cough*

:D

No. PD are the masters of hype. Over a million sales day one...marketing genius.

Well i think Foraz 3 is the best racer IMO. I`ve compared the two, to my standards and no one else`s to see how I feel about them. I`ve had all the GT series games, even the ones that were only released in Japan, and did the browser trick to get the Japanese demo on a american PS3. I`ve had all the Forza games as well. GT started to make me love racing games even though I was knee deep in the Need 4 Speed series, until Shift what a piece of crap. When you compare GT`s A-spec to Forza`s Career mode Forza kills it. A-spec 45 races, Forza`s Career well over 100! There is so much to do when it comes to racing and you can use so many cars to those tracks. Gt is a great game, it`s just put together sloppily. P.D. has been away from the gaming scene so long making GT5, that they got out of touch with what the community wants. I mean 1031 cars and only 45 a-spec races? I read online that Turn 10 is watching GT5 closely, seems they want the crown of king racer and it seems that PD left the door open. Don`t forget competition brings great games for us all. Would`nt it be great if all racers were 10`s...my girlfriend would kill me!

After the game update being released today for GT5, you guys can say goodbye to gaming companies that make driving car games if PD keeps it up.

I'm not saying these are better but racing gmaes I do like are the GTR series of games on the PC, particularly GTR 2. I also loved the Forza games and PGR4 on the Xbox 360.

I'm also enjoying TDU 2 at the mo but it is a completely different type of racing game compared to GT.

I'm glad someone else feels the same way as me about shift, they should have dropped the f from shift that would be a more fitting name for it:dopey:. I can't see the sequel being any better either but we will see.

The only reason I haven't played Forza 3 is because I don't have an xbox anymore or know anyone with the game. I had Forza 2 though which I thought was great so I can only imagine that 3 improved on this, if Forza 4 carries on this trend then it could well top GT5.

Imo from what I've experienced so far GT5 is the best racing game and it keeps getting better with time.

I don't think there is a "king of racing games" anymore. I think of a lot of the disappointment of Gt5 was because some believe it would beat all other racing games in all areas. (of course PD and Turn 10 over hyped their game) I seriously don't think that is possible. Every race game I played has both strong points and weaknesses including Iracing.

The one advantage Shift has over Forza and GT series is it's on the PC which some mods greatly improved the game.

After some thinking, in terms of racing games better than GT5, it's really hard to find much fault in Modnation Racers. When I'm in the mood for that type of game, it delivers nearly flawlessly.
