What is the U.S. liability for what has occurred in Iraq and what should justice be for Iraq and Iraqis?

I am very interested to hear (so to speak) the opinions of members, especially as there are so many viewpoints available here at GTPlanet.

Justice? Now that they don't have the dictator Saddam Hussein in charge anymore? How about free pizza for everyone?

Note... I'm one of those who was opposed to the Iraqi invasion, on the grounds that 1.) Iraq did not pose an immediate or even medium-term threat to the United States in terms of WMD development or Al Quaeda connections, as shown in inspections after the invasion, and 2.) the possible destabilization and creation of a new hotbed for terrorist training due to the war... which is what happened.

But the one duty that the US has towards the Iraqi people after the invasion is to stabilize the peace and order situation, root out the militias and terrorists, then get out. Nothing else really matters.

Yes, because before we came along Iraq was just a happy joyful place.

Judging by the last year with the other middle east revolts, a civil war was likely imminent in Iraq had the U.S. not wasted billions of dollars and lives doing it for them.

(I am and was always against the occupation, still think it was W trying to finish his dad's job)
