What times can you run CONSISTENTLY on 8-5?

I'm wondering what most of you can run lap after lap consistently vs. your best time. I've just gotten to try out 8-5 over the last 2 days, started in the 1.35's, next session down to 1.34's, now consistent 1.33's (like running off 4 or 5 in a row). Best so far is a 1.32.804, and I've hit 3 or 4 laps total in the high 1.32s. Inevitably I'll push too hard and make a big mistake when trying to get times lower.

I have to leave town and will be back Saturday afternoon giving 2 more days to have at it. I know I can get lower in 1.32's if I string together a few good corners, 1.31's will be tough and probably require some luck.

I'd love to know if someone who has hit 1.31's can just crank them out lap after lap or if it's a once in every 10 or 20 laps type of deal. I believe in Tidgney's tutorial he mentions hitting mid 31's consistently.

I can run in the 1:31's consistently if I wanted to but my approach is to do fastest lap on 1st lap and go all out in 1st sector which is quite risky. I also restart after 1st lap end as exit is usually not that good going into the 2nd lap.

:), I do hit 31's all day long. My average is .4 to .6 and if I really prepare the last corner that average drops a tenth to .5 to .7 but generally that's what I hit.

edit: I do push though so if I hit a cone I do restart (Which also happens alot now im after that perfect lap!)

1.31.4 is my best so far and i can consistantly hit .6s and .7s. Really struggling to find those last couple of tenths i need to feel confident about having a spot in the 32. It will come though. Thats what i keep telling myself at least.

I just found this rather amusing I posted on here then did this;

1st lap: 1:31.439
2nd lap: 1:31.438

Consistency or what :D! although I hit a new record 90mph before the second cones on the chicane I was truely flying!

Now that's consistancy.

I'm able to run consistent 1.34.5's ( without distractions like my sis yelling in my ear or stuff like that ) . Best lap was a 1.34.1 if I remember correctly. So the hunt for the 1.33's continues :D

I did 1:31.355 twice in a row yesterday. My average time is probably .6 but I rarely finish laps that I make even the slightest mistake on.

Last night i must of ran 20 laps in a row under 31.350 but none of them were faster than .301 lol. Very consistent, until i finally broke in .2's then i started running a handfull of them in there.

Wow a lot of consistent times

For those in the 1.31's, how long did you drive/practice to the point you could hit those times? I'm curious how fast some people are right off the bat as opposed to lots of practice and study on a particular car/track.

to warm up to set my better times when i first get on I run as many laps as I can in a row. Like last night I had a 10 lap run in the 31.3-31.8 range.

2-3 hours first few days I was able to get my rythym and run in 31's

I haven't actually tried to run 8-5 in many days. Before that I ran consistent 32.2s-32.3s with a best of a 31.9 that I got over a week ago. I may try again later tonight or tomorrow.

Edit: I had a 90 minute long run about 2 hours ago. I was running many 32.1s and 32.0s but no improvement.

ugh..so damn close to 31..

My best is a 1'33.023 but I can consistently hit 1'33.4xx. I really wanted a 32 and can see how to do it, but just can't quite manage it.

I usually run 32.0-32.2 waiting to get through the turn 4 chicane correctly. That's the only thing that pushes down my times. When I set my current PB of 31.899 it was on lap 7 when lap 6 I did 31.900 and 31.959 before that.

only thing that gets me resets is I have a problem with grazing the cone on the inside of turn2.

Ran 2 hours on Sunday to get 32.2; two more hours Monday to get a slightly better 32.2; watched someone's replay to find out if I was doing anything horribly wrong... realized I should be aggressively short-shifting 2nd and started into the 31's.

So about ~6 hours to get into the 31s

i run ALOT of 1:31.5s, earlier today in fact, i ran a .554, followed by a .551, followed immediately after by a .548.

HUMAN STOPWATCH

i always lose 2-3 tenths in one corner/section though, on one lap ill run what would be a 1:31.0 and then mess up one corner and land near a .4/.5

Same hear, its so frustrating. hopefully i can put together my magic lap this weekend. :nervous: I think a 31.0 would put me in safe place to qualify in germany...

My day usually starts with a 1.31.8. next lap is a 1.31.6 and after that im consistently doing 31.3-31.5.

I run 1:32.1-.2s all day. I don't have to trail brake or slide the car to reach that time (driving like there was tire wear). To me this seems like what a reasonable race pace would be.

I am about the same. Last night after the sharp right after the chacanes I looked up and I was at least ten car lengths ahead of my ghost (1:32.970) . I was like oh my god. Dont F*#@ up. Dont F*#@ up! I did good untill the very last curve. Ran through the curve and off the track! I was like your freakin kidding me! My heart was pounding after that. All I had to do was at least make it around that curveand I would have at least beaten my best time and I run all the way off the track!

low 1:33s consistantly.
