What to do??

hey,

I have a problem with GT4, or my PS2. Whenever I race on twin ring motegi for example, the game freezes and i have to restart. The annoying thing is that one of the IA License tests is on that part of motegi. Now I can't get IA and can't get much further... Is there anyone who knows a fix??

Try cleaning your GT4 disk and cleaning the laser in your PS2.
 
haha, that happens to me when i enter Like the Wind. Its freezes during loading, but after trying after restarting it works then.
 
My cousins game freezes whenever he wins a car. Hes tried cleaning the disk but hasnt worked. Hes giving up on the game because he cant get any cars or finish any races because it doesnt save before it freezes.
 
What did your cousin do with the game then?

I had that.

You have 2 options, open up the PS2 and risk doing further damage by cleaning it all out. Or 2. Buy another ps2.
 
Maybe its the game like what happend to me, in turn I returned it and got another and for a year now its been fine.
 
I know this shouldn't be done, but I was having this problem with ALL my games, freezes after about 5 mins. playing, so I ordered a new laser off eBay.

I fitted it (come with instructions), and ever since my PS2 has been fine :sly:

Try this, seeing as the guarentee (sp?) only lasts 30 days, it isn't voiding anything :dopey:

thanks for all the replies! I have an slimline PS2 so i have access to my laser.. What is the best way to clean it? And is windowcleaner the best thing to use when cleaning a PS2 disc because i've been told that.. T.I.A.
 
You should read the link Ozzy gave you earlier. That should clear up any confusions.

I've cleaned the lens with rubbing alcohol and I've also cleaned the GT4 dvd, but it still freezes at the same tracks... what should i do?
 
Do like what I did, Re-align the lens and fine tune the voltage.
 
But is that also possible with the slimline ps2? Because that's the one I've got...
 
That I don't know, My PS2 is the 1st generation PS2. A week after it came out so its the 5lb brick.
 
I've cleaned the lens and the GT4 DVD again, but still no result. Are there any options left?:(
 
Do some search on the forums and there should me some threads that tell you how exactly.

You can also use the trusted tool, Google.
 
If you Google, "Laser Lens on PS2" all the sites should pop up, just read what is happening to yours like what was recommeded with what happend to mine and read on and do what it tells you.
 
You people never learn, why would you take the GT4 disc out ? If you leave it in it won't get scratched and the lens won't get dirty ...
 
I'd say to exchange the game. Or, just buy a new one for $20.
 
I recommeded that he exchanged it in my previous posts.
 
I just tried my disc at a friend's house and it worked flawlessly. So the problem is my PS2. I think i'm going to stop by my local game shop for advice tomorrow..
