Not sure what you mean by that. Could you clarify a little more?

I was just wondering if anybody knew the type of graphics that are used for GT5, thanks

In that case I believe it uses Nvidia.

"The graphics processing unit, according to Nvidia, is based on the NVIDIA G70 (previously known as NV47) architecture. The GPU makes use of 256MB GDDR3 RAM clocked at 700 MHz with an effective transmission rate of 1.4 GHz[3] and up to 224MB of the 3.2 GHz XDR main memory via the CPU (480MB max)."

You are correct sir. Thank you Wikipedia.

I remember reading 720p uses 4x anti-aliasing and 1080i/p uses 2x anti-aliasing. My TV only has a 1366x768 native pixel field so I use the 720p input method, but playing on my friend's 55" projector TV with 1080i the game looks a little more blocky. I'm not sure if that is difference can be attributed to the difference in technology of the television, or from the processed output between 720/1080 modes.

This certainly wins the 'most vague question of the month' award :)

The graphics are not nearly good enough IMHO, I know they messed up badly with the timescales, and had to resort to some up-scaling of old models and track scenery etc, but the graphics at times (particularly shadows, some of the non-premium cars) really are p!ss poor.
Bring on the PS4, because if you believe what the developers say, they have reached the limits of the PS3 with this game!

While we're on the subject, can anyone tell me if the processor uses all ones, all zeroes, or a combination of the two? Does it use Japanese 1s, or can I buy spares in the UK?

OT: The graphics chipset is probably irrelevant - the software that feeds data to the GFX chip is highly likely to be bespoke for GT5. This has allowed them to push the boundaries in terms of photorealism with a few downsides; off-track textures aren't always so great, haze processing (dust/water/smoke) can cause heavy artefacting around cars and, of course, the poor shading at certain times. Hate the shading :D

You mean the graphics engine? If correct, I'm not sure what GT5 uses. What I do know Is that it is codenamed, like the R.A.G.E. (Rockstar Advanced Graphics Engine) for GTA IV. Another that I know is the graphics engine is responsible for renders, both 2D & 3D objects & meshes; collision detection, sound, scripting, animation, networking, memory management, & many other duties It is responsible for (thanks for Wikipedia for the duties).

Well i dont believe what the deveopers say. I believe the developers have reached their limit in not being able to build their code in such a way that the PS3 is capable of porcessing it sufficiently.

If you think of the capabilities of the Xbox360 and what they can get out of that, then PD is just a bunch of half baked developers; the PS3 has four times more calculating power to offer!!

Which makes me think of something that i read that Kaz said; "Maybe this game is more for the next genreation of consoles then this one..." Thats basically saying we cannot make decent software, we suck at doing projects with deadlines, and will not do what you ask of us.

Example: I ask PD to make an application (a game) for the current console m(PS3), and want it to be finished in one year.
Then 5 years later they come back and say; Hey heres a great game; it has loads of content and looks better then a playboy bunny in bikini. BUT; it cant play on this console; you need the PS4.

Conclusion: Youve impressed me with stuff i didnt ask for; and i cant play the game on the console i specified, and your four years too late..

I wouldnt pay them; seriously... And i dont think any other business would..

The main reason I asked was because I do graphics at college but only simple raster and vector. The graphics on GT5 have amazed me in the realism from day one so I thought it would be nice to know what creates such images, thanks for the feedback. 👍

The PS3 graphics card could've been better, but they underclocked it at the last minute.

Now, they've underclocked it even more on the PS3 slim.
This is why Slims don't YLOD as much.

I think the game engine is just called the GT5 Engine if your asking for that.
