I can run mid to low 1:39's in the Tuned Skyline. Trouble is getting far enough away from the punters for it to make any difference. Doesn't always work out.

Edit: and most of the cars in the 1:38's are the GT-R, Clio, etc. which I don't really care for.

I see. I've noticed that Chunkee_Munkee and yourself tends to drive different cars from everyone elses. Those guys on the video are all in the 37s. I myself uses the GTR, but I'm not by any mean on their level. I'm very close to the 37s though and racing with them is extremely competitive and a lot more fun. One mistake and the race is over!!!!

👍 I love being on the edge!

Lets disect a video of a real online race:

I'm jealous, that looked crazy fun. 👍 Races like that are few and far between for me (and never quite that fast).

That's exactly what type of racer I would call myself, whatever choice that is. Sure they'll be a few bumps, but nobody is trying to ram people off the road (except for whatever happened to the GTR as it flew off the track).

I'd say i'm a clean racer but I will drive aggressively. Saying that I drive less aggressive on GT than what I do on say rFactor or GTR Evo. So yeah, i'm the first option i'd have to say.

I generally try to be clean as possible, but if someone is intentionally punting people, and I'm not using my GTP tag, I won't make the effort to avoid them if they get in my way. Not so much an intentional punt, unless the offender is really bad and repeatedly ramming myself or others ruining the race for everyone, those people need to be taken out so the race can be enjoyed by everyone else.

I think I'm just a racer who's a bit fast on particular tracks, At the tracks I hate and not good I'd be slow and dirty that I definitely need to be clean :D

I consider myself a clean racer however if Some idiot who isn't racing cleanly hits me lets say Accidents will happen. (mafia style)
In some ways I like having a couple of dim wits in the race because it spices it up when they come the otherway and you have to do evasive.

Well I'm a clean racer though I make mistakes now and then but doesn't happen very often as when I'm close to someone I get a little nervous and go slower so normally I'd get overtaken quite easilly, besides since I re-started played GT5P recently and right now I'm not with my wheel I'm pretty slow at the moment to actually be in the race.

Winners never cheat and cheaters never win.

If only it was that simple, unfortunately cheaters do often win and therefore winners do cheat.
If on those rare occassions you have a fair and entertaining fight, I don't care much for winning but mainly enjoy the racing.
If someone does cheat I generally wanted to win from them ( albeit in a fair way ) and often I ended up drawing the short straw and only ended up angry and frustrated.
When I'm not hosting the event and find myself racing cheaters I just quit nowadays.
It's like entering a boxing-fight only to find your opponent has brought along an AK-47, I mean what's the point then trying to fight them?

Well no, its nothing at all like that.. :indiff:
If you remain consistant you will find yourself finishing races in front of cheaters all the time. They dont bother me, if I see someone cuttin way left or whatever on last turn of Fuji or whatever else you may, I dont consider them opponents anymore, rather just a car thats in my way. 👍

If it's just people who cheat using the walls for steering and taking shortcuts or posses poor driving skills I'll fully agree with you to just treating them as driving chicanes.
I meant punters, for lack of a better word, who sometimes not even drive that bad surprisingly enough ( although the majority does ) but still find it necessary to push you into the barrier when you try to overtake or use your car as an obstacle for braking where you are again catapulted into the barrier and recieve a time penalty.
Often I try to catch up again ( sometimes thinking it was an unintentional accident ) only to find myself in the same situation a few laps further up.
Online-racing is about having fun to me, and if I know after 2 laps that I'm up against a couple of complete buffoons who only care for staying in front no matter what in a 10 lap race, I'll just safe myself the time, anger and frustration and quit often to find a good fair race afterwards.

Yeah, I pray and pray online rooms in GT5 will have Collisions on/off option. Either way its ok, it wont be long now til we can just "kick" out any punters and online racing will devour many many hours of my life.

Something I often wonder with the various 'types' of online racers, is who has what aids turned on or off. There seem to be some very rapid people, permanently drifting and/or slightly off course (with the upshot of never being able to see through the dust and tyre smoke), and for the life of me I could not manage such drifting with a steering wheel. I wouldn't want too anyway, I much prefer to drive properly (ahem - and I appreciate that sometimes drifting can be faster, particularly with regards to loose surfaces). I wonder if these people have the traction control or stability on - I can't say for sure because I've never used them, so don't know what difference it makes. Equally controller vs steering wheel, who knows what your opponents are using.

It would be nice, if (a la Forza) it gave some indication of who was using what. Although I wouldn't choose to, I know I could go a lot faster in a GT LM with the electronic nannies helping me out.

Lol!👍
That cracked me up.
So eloquintly put there Paulie, I love your style.:D:tup:
Can't wait to go racing with you again mate.;)

I totally agree with you man. Being in a race isn't about being first and getting the prize money. Its the race itself and the experience you gain from it :)

Okay, who was the one person on this entire thread that actually voted for "I go backwards"?

👍

That is my love for the online racing.

In my pretend racing world it is not about the money. I do not know how many times I bought the F2007 just so I would no longer see that 'you can not have more than $2 million...' pop up

First post! Got the game a few days ago and online racing is like a jungle. Last night was racing at Fuji beginner. Well, more like bumper cars, not racing. How to avoid these guys?

I race clean and fair, and sometimes will hit others by accidents but not on purpose.

I havent raced in ages. But I would say I am generally a clean driver, but I voted other. I won't hit people if they hit me, and I would never intentionally ruin someones race, whether or not they deserve it. However, I do like close, exciting races and I have been known to take risks when making passes and "trade paint" so-to-speak. I've also been known to brake check or brake a bit too hard into a corner when someone is following closely. But it's rare; usually in those situations where it's been a close heated race between a few guys we're all going for the win. I'd say in 98% of circumstances I am clean.

i love touge racing and i have done a lot of online racing in the beginner Eiger Nordwand track. im surprised that a lot of people race really fair and is really fast with their ITR. GT5 online is only as good as what the racers makes of it. thank you everyone.

Unfortunately go to Pro races and be lucky there. Look on the online racing "Live chat".

I have to say I never punt intentionally, it is like "smashing a perfectly good guitar", it makes no sense to me.

That does not mean I do not punt, but when I do it is my lack of racing skills. Losing control in a turn, by accidentally hitting a wall or by misjudging the effect of slip streaming. Since I learned about the GTP rules I also let the other one pass if this ever happens, no matter who else passes.

Punters faster then me I let pass if I see them come up, Punters slower then me I pass in a safe place. From the feedback I got, most get fed up punting and see that gentlegirl/boy behavior on the track is more fun.
