What Ever Happened to the Scenery & Artistic Competitions??

Did they die out from lack of interest, or were they just abandoned by their Host? (I know I bailed on the Scenery comp, did anyone ever pick it up, and run it)

Either way, is there any interest in running, or reviving these??

Also, are there any plans for another Tournament??

The scenery comps stopped about a month ago, no idea what happened to the Artistic comps as I'm fairly new here...compared to most people, of course.

To answer your questions, both the artistic and the scenery competition were buried by me, because of the lack of interest.
The artistic competition last week had only 1 entry, and the scenery competition last week had only 3 entries (if I recall correctly).

Also, yes, the scenery competition was revived one more time, after you left.

The tournament just ended one or two months ago. I can predict that the next one will come between September and November, that when most people are ON. Right now, with vacations and holidays, there is not so much going on around.

This, was the artistic competition

Perhaps if revived, the two should be one competition. The winner can pick either scenery or artistic.

Or maybe have a kind of “you choose” competition, where the winner can choose everything: rules (Un-Edited, PmC, 2.0, Free Edit or even our own customize set of rules), what kind of competitions we want to see (drift, artistic, creative, scenic, CCCL, Photoshop to the max, etc.), theme, poll, etc. Customize competition that would be cool.

Or it could be alternating, one week Artistic then the next week Scenery. Stagger it so, the winner of the artistic chooses the next artistic and the scenery does the same.

I like that idea even more, the Wild Card Competition. That would probably work well due to the versatility of the competition, and the wide array of theme choices. You could even do some themes that could never last more than 1 week. Like CCCLCS certain car, certain location, certain spot - focusing on a single turn or straight.

Great ideas guys, keep them coming.

I always take scenery shots...its a nice change and you find new stuff. It never seemed to take off as a comp.

Hai guyz! I remember when I revived the scenic comp, people had trouble picking themes for scenery. Scenery is nice, but you can only diversify it so much. I don't think it would fair to well.

I like the idea of the customisable competition. Heck, I'd even be willing to put my hand up to hosting it, although that would mean having to make banners, which I'm not so great at...

If your anxious to run it, start up the comp, I'm sure many here could help out with the banners. Also you may want to consult those already running comps, for advice on running one (in case you haven't done it before).

Anyway, now would be a good time to start, get a few weeks under your belt before activity spikes in the fall.

What do we want to call it, Customized, Wildcard, Random, or what else can we come up with for a title??

I think all 3 work well as a title.

How about the Customized Random WildCard Competition?? CRW

Once we knock out a title, we can get to work on some banners for it.

the scenic comp should just be consolidated with the artistic comp, for better results and
so it won't be too monotonous.

I think that a simple name like "Costume Competition" or "Customizable Competition" would do the work. But the name is something to be arranged by the host really.

Also, before the banners, there are the set of rules to be thought of. You can “copy/paste” general rules from any competition here, since they are pretty much the same in any competition.

For the competition own rules (about the themes and that), it should be explained by P.M. to the theme chooser (winner of previous week).

If it's completely customisable, shouldn't then the theme chooser be choosing Edit rules as well as the theme?

Yes, I never digress that part. I only said that the General competition rules equal to the other competition general rules :
CCCL

I say call it the Artistic Competition again.
Or Artistic.0....(I like that one)

This could be popular once again because of the variety of genres and styles available.

I like that one.

LOL lets have a poll for the name.

In the end it's up to the host to title the Comp and to structure it, but a poll may help the eventual host decide.
Do we even have a definite host yet?

Two questions for in.s@ne:
Are ready to run this thing?
If so, do you want me to add a poll in this thread for choosing a title?

________________________________________________________________

Is anyone else wanting to run this comp other than in.s@ne?

So far we have the following for titles:
  • Artistic Competition
  • Artistic.0
  • Artistic II : The Artist Strikes Back (lol, okay maybe that's too far)
  • The Customized Competition
  • Customized Random WildCard Competition (CRWC)
  • Random Photomode
  • The WildCard Competition
    EDIT:
  • Costume Competition (or was that supposed to be Custom)
  • Customizable Competition
  • You Choose Competition
  • 4.0 Competition

Any other titles to add to a possible poll?
Also, dare I ask, any objections to this comp? (even though it seems to be snowballing a bit)

You didn't add any of the names I proposed :grumpy:

Edit: And how about: 4.0 Competition (since the 3.0 is the free edit rules, custom should be 4.0)

I don't think the "artistic" should be at play, since as a custom competition, this could stop to be artistic (if for example I chose PmC rules or have something in concrete for a theme). The artistic part would confuse the entrants, and would deliver some undesirable entries for the theme in propose). I think we should leave the artistic competition to its own. Just my 2 cents.

I would be willing to give it a shot, hopefully I make an alright host!
And yes, a poll would be good.

Sorry LdS EDIT:Nicknamealguem, it was a late night, and I just spaced on those. Did I miss one on the edit??

Also good point on leaving the artistic out, it would also allow for the possibility of a revival of the artistic comp in the fall or winter.

I would be willing to give it a shot, hopefully I make an alright host!

Was just making sure, and you should do fine as a host. I will get a poll up tonight after I get off work (err tomorrow morning btwn 1am - 3am), allowing for more suggestions today.

:P It’s ok 👍 And I seem to miss-typed Custom (correct) with costume (wrong). :dunce:

Exactly. Since this has a totally different concept than the artistic comp., without the "artistic" in the name, it would be possible to revive the artistic competition in a near future without name conflict.
And the fact that this has nothing to do with the artistic competition to begin with.

Okay I have put up a 2 part poll, for you in.s@ne the results are public. I also added in.s@ne Comp. because it kinda has a ring to it. As not to effect possible Artistic Competition revival, I omitted all "Artistic" titles.

Good Luck in.s@ne, you should get a decent response for help with banners. I'll do them if you need, but others here are better at it.

I can't believe people are actually voting for in.s@ne competition! I voted for it to try and throw my vote away lol
