As stupid as this question is, because I know I should choose life over pc hardware, I had 3 sleepless nights, thinking about this.

Tomorrow I have to leave my apartment in gran canaria. I am here for 2 months already. I love it here but it is not cheap I must say.

Now I can decide, 1 more month here would cost me another 1000€. Including all, rent for apartment, eat, drink and flight ticket back.

Would you leave and waste that 1000 bucks for an other hobby? Or stay another month qnd enjoy sunshine, beach, party?

I must say, when I go back to Germany, I got a damn boring life going on there. Staying almost all day at home, weather sucks, people suck etc. I work from my laptop so I can work here in gran canaria too.

At the moment I am at 70% for staying here another month.

Any other opinions would interest me :)

Hahah thanks for your replys, nice to hear. I have just 3-4 hours left to decide but am still going crazy because I am not 100% sure. I hate this aspect of me.

A thousand dollar-pounds is a lot of money and lasts a short amount of time. The racing gear will keep on giving.

The fact that you seem fundamentally indecisive makes me think that going back to your solid "base" will help. You'll miss Gran Canaria but you'll surely be back, you'll just have something cool to go home to as well ;)

Or beer, weed, beach. That's tempting...

Imagine years from now you're on your deathbed looking back on your life. Do you think you'll lament the fact that you spent too much time and money at the beach and not enough on video games?

I would do the beach more but the nearest decent ones aren't found within a 50-mile radius and in this country you can only realistically exploit them for about five days a year.

Third option: go to a cheaper place with beach and sunshine. You're in Spain, for tapas' sake, surely there are kilometres of good beaches! Just take a flight into the mainland, look around (hint: stay away from typical tourist destinations. Tourism = increased prices)

Also, fun fact, the stereotype in Spain is that most Germans go to the Balearic Islands (specially Majorca), not Canary.

If anybody cares, I went home to Germany. I saved about 800€. And you know what, I regret it so freaking much, I even cried today. It was the wrong and worst decision but I did it. I don't know what rid me to chose this way but I did it.

The worst is, I left in the best month of the year, that bugs me the most. I am 33 years old and who knows what is next year. Maybe marriage, maybe dead or whatever.

For next time, always chose life and joy over money.

And in a month's time you'd be home anyway, 800E worse off and no more idea what's coming next year! ;)

So invest your E800 in a travel course and go work there :)

Despite "working from home" you clearly don't earn enough to maintain life in that type of location (otherwise you'd still be there), if you want to be there all the time make it happen ;)

Neither.

Spend the whole lot on beer and weed and live on the beach. Sorted. Next question?
James Hunt that you?

@Sele1981 I immigrated away to Spain from Belgium 6 years ago for more or less the same reasons, you can only play so much on your pc gear before boredom/ depression will strike again.

Yesterday I gave Assetto Corsa a run and what should I say. It was damn depressing. I had no fun at driving. I realized that I am back at the depressing life again. Still I have a bit of that sunny feeling in me but I know, in 1-2 weeks everything will be back to normal.

Where do you live in Spain? I guess Barcelona is also a great alternative because I cant really imagine to live on Gran Canaria forever. It is a "small" island. I can imagine on the Spanish mainland you can have a good life.

What I must admit is, here in germany you have the best supermarkerts. Everything is so fresh and you have a big choice of everything. A big problem in Gran Canaria was the food. Even when I bought chicken breast for example in big known markets like carrefour, it was not really fresh.

OMG I made me a salad yesterday here, that was superb.

Granada, i agree the thing i miss the most is the Belgian food and beers as Spanish food is quite simple (but healthy).
On the other hand, the sun does a great deal to your mood and the mood of others, i like the way Spanish people are relaxed and aren't preoccupied more with what others are doing like in our countries. Couple that with beautiful nature and pretty girls all around and it's a small piece of heaven on earth ;)

Can´t agree more! The people are so relaxed and happy. Even if they are poor, they seem to love their lifes. And yeah, the spanish girls are really damn hot. Pretty close to Italian girls :)

Granada is pretty much in the south, close to Africa. I bet you have 8-9 months of the year sunshine!? In Gran Canaria, especially in Playa del Ingles, they have close to 350 days sun in the year and never under 20 degree at day. And also in August it does not get annoyingly hot. In Turkey for example, you cant go out of the house in June/July/August on the afternoon.

EDIT: And you nailed it with "they aren´t preoccupied with what others doing". Nobody cares who you are or what you are doing. Here in Stuttgart for example, when you go out clubbing, people are so superficial (I hope it is the right word). You need an expensive car, designer clothes, you must be good looking, white teeth and so on... You can´t be yourself. In Gran Canaria you can go out with flip flops and a tanc top. Nobody cares. Here people look strange when you wear that.

Well the poseur/metrosexual/selfie youth of nowadays is all around really, bet you won"t get into many of the Granadian disco's with flip flops neither :D

Yup around 7 months of sunshine, it does get cold but not below zero and in the spring it rains often.
It's great to live there and visit Belgium once a year just to see family and friends, eat and get drunk like a king, but i wouldn't go back and live there because of the difference in mentality and the general lack of humor.

I'd take a beach party any day over PC gaming. Hot girls, sunshine, swimming, and good food. What could be any better than that!
