I don't think you could go for much more of a drastic difference between two cars. :) If mileage is the only concern, then the Sentra will suffice, but it won't be the best you can find. As for how the Sentra is itself, it's not the SE-R of old. It's numb steering, heavy feel, and slow response leave a lot to be desired from what is really a "sedan-ized hot-hatch". The original SE-R had the hot-hatch feeling down to a T.

Don't get me wrong. The new SE-R/V is good for the money, but don't let anyone fool you into thinking this is any type of performance car. Perhaps the addition of $5-10,000 worth of aftermarket equipment (primarily in the suspension category) would resolve that problem. I think by *then* you'd have a formidable street sweeper, though. ;)

I agree with everything Hooligan said except for the 'slow response.' Your serious? I think it does extremely well (a WRX for the money, even)

The normal Sentra.

Though it'd probably be wider that a cruise ship, assuming it could even make a turn (two wheels turning six wheels is not a good sight)

The SE-R (V) has definitely lost its edge. The original was a truly great car, but as with all things, the newer generation is heavier and softer. Seating and driving position are very good, but overall the feel is very heavy when driving.

Plus, about 15 hp out of the 175 they claim were a product of the 'marketing engineers'. Don't believe it for a minute.

Compared to what Nissan *could* have done (read: 350Z), I think it's sloppy work. Granted, they may have just used a cheaper steering rack to get the price well under US$20,000. If that's the case, then take a look at what Mazda did in that segment. Personally, I'd rather pay the extra $1,000 for 350Z steering (just estimating the difference in price).

Then again, I'm coming from the wonderful world of Subaru Imprezas. ;)

I love free test drives....

well were comparing a Chevorlet Suburban LT 98 vs. a Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V there are of course big differences a SUV compared to a sedan wouldn't you think theres a big difference between the gas mileage and the turning ratio?

No.

:D

well i am in Cali and they are about 19K$ and yes M5 they do have different Turning ratios and different gas mileage so we are comparing them that, i think in my opinion, that the Sentra SE-R Spec-V is better than the Suburban oh and the Suburban has 78K miles on it

That's not even 20,000 a year. Fairly high mileage, yes, but not shockingly high.

The Pontiac has 270,000. But at 35 years old, it's entitled to. The '95 Neons both have a little over 70,000 on them; the '92 van has 83,000 or so. The '82 Supra I had before the Neon had about 260,000 on it.

That's not too bad, actually. I thought you were going to go off on your 1995 Neons with over 100,000 or something extreme!

No. We used to put that kind of mileage on our cars, but then we moved closer to work. For a while I had an 70-mile round trip per day, with frequent work trips going 100 miles or more. But not for the last few years.

Major differences; apples and oranges.

Suburban: large engine, low rev-range; vastly over-stated mileage; relatively narrow track on low-geared steering rack.

Sentra: small engine, but high-revver; not-exactly-overstated mileage; realtively wider track on high-geared steering rack.

They sort of meet in the middle. Up the boost enough on a Mini Cooper S and I'm sure you'll get mileage similar to a Suburban. Jump in that Mini and you'll be surprised by the turning circle, too. But wow does it ride well. :)

ah never mind my dad just bought a New Beetle 1.8L Turbo i think its actually nicer than the Sentra so forget about the Sentra hello New Beetle its got 108.8 miles on it and its mileages got 24 city/31 HWY
