GranTurismo 3 is pretty dang cool, but surely something awesome was released for computers this Christmas. What's the latest and greatest?

I saw a television commercial for Burnout. Supposedly it's got all kinds of new stuff in it. How well does it play?

In the arcade: Super Monaco GP (1989). Very demanding, and yes, Ayrton Senna's car is featured.

At home: The original Formula 1 game for PSX, and GT2.

nfs high stakes gets an honorable mention, the frame rate kinda sucked.

Greg Moore can be found in CART Flag 2 Flag for Dreamcast.

Sports Car GT for PC would be my pick. The add-on cars and tracks are endless. 24-car racing, and some tracks now have animated day-night-day transitions.

and CART World Series Moore is one of the best racers on that game.

I used Moore a lot in Cart Flag 2 Flag. But the AI cars do not vary in that game. They are all the same and follow the same line. CF2F had good graphics but the game was just done poorly.

I never played Cart World Series. I've always wanted to but I never see it around.

Followed closely by Rage Racer, Daytona USA 2 :The Power Edition, and of course who could forget the one and only, Scud Race/Super Gt. GT3 is somewhere in the around #5 on the list.

F1 Championship Edition aka F1 '97 for the PSX. Best F1 game ever.

I love Sega Rally 2 in the arcades. That cabinet is great! But nothing beats the F355 cab 😈

Out of the GT series, I think GT1 is the best. Why? One part "nothing beats the original" theory, one part having SSR11

Another top-notch racer: Test Drive Le Mans on the DC. Brilliant.

CART World Series was pretty good, but I haven't played it since '97

Need for Speed III on the PC was the pinnacle of that series too, imho.

How can anyone say any of the GT series is a good RACING game.

They are all superb DRIVING games (but no longer the best) but as racing they ALL suck.

6 very, very stupid cars who (especially in 2 and 3) cheat constantly? That's just bad.

Incidentally F1GP was based on 1991 not 1990.

and GP2 came out in 1996 not 1994 but was indeed based on 1994 (although obviously editors fixed that pretty famned quick)

Gran Turismo 1-3 (my favourite is still 1)
(plus most of the above with the probable exception of the TOCAs)

if you find the right competition, f355 online is a solid racer. although, fake online racing. and I've had some good races in gt3 in the pro league, it isn't that bad.

well, the races in all the GT series--as dudley pointed out--are hard only because the opposition are/would be cheating, and therefore much faster then you. They don't put up a fight, like even the backmarkers in Test Drive Le Mans, or many other racers.
