Oh yeah and they cost a heck of alot more.

o.k
ruf is subname of henry "henry ruf" this is a guy who are aproved by porshe to tuning any porshe and keep in warranty.

ruf is a upgrade packages for many porshe:is like amg for mb, dinnan for bmw, venon or henessy for viper's, trd for toyota,
nismo for nissan, etc,etc

they change:computer chips,muflers,flears,headers,wheels etc,etc

Basically, RUF cars are tuned Porsches.

If your asking this question about GT2, here is the answer. EA (Electronic Arts) owns the license for Porsche, thus Polyphony can not use Porsche in Gran Turismo. But, EA doesn't own the license to RUF so RUF Porsches - the tuned ones, are available..

Ewwwwwwwww a vitz, mind you I once heard that they were building tommikairas in the UK.

Hey cool avatar clone!
Stuntcar racer on the Amiga that game was cool!
especially the ski jump and the draw bridge!

I see... So Polyphony can't include Porsche in the GT series... I thought I would never see a single Porsche car in GT2... But when I was racing at Tahiti Road once, I saw this familiar spunky green car... I asked myself, "Isn't that a Porsche?"

I think Ruf is actually the surname of Alois Ruf.
i think you are right( i din't knew about: alois ruf)

but i'm sure of the name henry ruf, cuz he was the guess of one friend.

may be is the name he use to closer friends.

Hey, I missed that - great game!! Who can remember watching that crack inch its way up the windscreen, and nursing the car when the crack was nearly all the way to the top - and that feeling of dread when you'd overcooked a jump? Fantastic!

Mind you I liked to use the nitro thingy allot, once we linked 2 amigas up together to play that game and it was awesome fun.
Yep I remember the dreaded crack of death, but you got these funny holes as well which I have no idea what they did.

and that feeling of dread when you'd overcooked a jump?
Yeah I used to go on the ski jump track and on that final big jump id realise that I am actually 1 meter left of the track you start saying "oh shiiiiiii" and wreck the car. what a game!

The immediately noticeable difference is that one is usually higher than the other.

That one was said just because I'm heartless.

Are you talking about RUF`s or Stuntcar racer?

Yeah, i mean stick to RUF's man, i think they should have porsche as the name, its more official, i think it would sound cooler and u could have a bigger variety of different cars

i think porshe have a "boxter ruf" i saw a few boxter with logo,
flears, and wheels ruf ( but i'm no sure is there are that kind of ruf)

The Boxter is the 3400s and that name just does not sound right to me, its numbers, people want REAL names. They could atleast give us the real Porsche logo, its looks a damn sight better than the RUF logo.

Porsche has little to do with RUF other than letting them buy chassis and engines. RUF started out as a Porsche repair shop, then a Porsche aftermarket shop, and now they totally rebuild Porsche cars. It's enough of a change that they have their own dealership, and are considered a separate manufacturer (in Germany, at least). You can buy RUF aftermarket parts for your Porsche, have your car (after you buy it) sent to RUF for a rebuild, or just buy a 3400S instead of a Boxster. More info at:

EVO ran an article on the history of RUF over the summer. The local UK library might have a copy somewhere....
