What's up with the shortcut on Tsukuba?

I've been wondering this for a while now. Why are there on both the Tsukuba tracks (normal and WET), when you select them in either Gran Turismo mode or Arcade mode, a shortcut just before the 2nd hairpin (right after the Dunlop Bridge)? on the maps for the course select it shows that it's passable, but on the track itself it's closed off by barriers. Was this piece of track supposed to be a variation for maybe another Tsukuba track, or is it merely a fault by PD to add it? I thought it was a little weird seeing it shows the shortcut on both tracks, but you're never able to use it.:indiff:

It might be part of the track you get in Tourist Trophy. But I don't own the game, so I can't really be too sure.

I'm pretty sure that part is for the Moto GP version of the track.

I think he is talking about an invisible wall blocking a shortcut to the back straight. The shortcut is right next to the Motorbike Chicane. That is supposed to be there.

it's not really an invisible wall. it's a piece of tarmac that indeed leads to the back straight. it's only blocked off by of a few of those blocks and an iron wall. if you follow the green/light blue section of the motorbike chicane you'll drive against it

Sorry, it's an invisible wall in GT5, haven't played GT4 in yeaarrs.

He is not talking about the Bike chicane, he is talking about a little stretch of concrete that cuts from the Bike Chicane to the back straight

I think it is just for marshalls by the way.

it's weird. because in the course select it shows that it should be accessible for
the cars on the track, just like the bike chicane

I've always known the track was there. But never thought anything of it. I know in Forza 2 there was a version that used it. I think Dax has it anyway, it's for marshals. The Bike chicane though, as mentioned is usable in Tourist Trophy. But the other section (connects from the chicane to the long (est) straight I don't know.

I wonder why PD didn't put it in the game, it's just a matter of copying the track and remove the barrier coding, along with some coding that makes the tarmac solid. but I guess i'll never know, along with why Suzuka-West never got used for any cup races, while it does have a pit-lane

I guess it's blocked off to force people to use the proper track and not take advantage of a shortcut. In the absence of a proper flagging system in the game that would black-flag anyone who was cheating by using shortcuts, there's a need for a physical barrier instead. It's the same reason the final hairpin at Infineon has a wall all the way around the inside in GT4, which is not there in real life, as it stops people taking shortcuts across the infield, something which would see you black-flagged if you tried it in a real race.

I understand that. the reason I call this a shortcut though is that the section i'm talking about cuts the hairpin and leads right to the back straight. seeing it is featured on the circuit select map, I was wondering if PD scrapped another Tsukuba version or if was simply a mistake to feature said piece of track on the map, like it also shows the part of circuit featured on T.T.

(also, you mentioning Infineon having a wall where it isn't supposed to be, makes you wonder if PD hasn't been sloppy with the Fuji 90's track seeing you can cut the chicane there)

My mistake. I stand corrected. :dunce:

I guess I just found the mystery solved. while looking through some topics, I found this out of luck

now, in this topic, I found the pic that solves my question:

so it seems PD did miss a variation of Tsukuba. I wonder if they left it out because it's short, or it got removed.
