What's with the CPU on Laguna Seca?

Is it just me or is the CPU a total ass on S and even A class on LS?

It seems on the corkscrew if I try to take it slow and drive the course like I should the CPU comes flying along, rams me off the road and then proceeds to accelerate like crazy through the dirt bouncing off walls and then speeding out ahead while I am bogged down an unable to control.

If I do the same thing (even though I hate doing it as I think the corkscrew is one of the best parts and nailing it clean is the way to go) the CPU then decides to take it slow, do the corkscrew and pull out ahead of me too.

Also in the curve before the corkscrew the CPU seems to be able to brake way past where it should and still hit the corner. If brake where I see the CPU brake I will go off the corner for sure.

Combined with the last lap boost the CPU seems to get this seems to leave me having to drive dirty for the win... I just can't figure out how to do a clean race and win this one...

Is it just me?

Brake late, turn in left hard (and blind) off throttle until you grab the second kink & power through the apex, but be prepared for the following sweeping left.

This is a corner you need to brake hard and late with 0 turn input until you off the brake it's important to line up your entry with a straight enough stopping ground pre-blind turn. Making a blind turn fast.

Are you talking about the corkscrew or the preceding turn?

If the corkscrew, I can hit the corkscrew fine most of the time and I think pretty well... but the problem in when I do the CPU decides to drive through the corner, smash into the wall, bounce down the hill, smash into the wall below and then accelerate off out of the dirt like crazy. It's like the CPU looks to see if I am taking the corkscrew slowly, if I am it then goes nuts and just drives through it. If I am not going to make it properly then the CPU does make it properly but then I am in the dirt and screwed.

Often this involves smashing me from behind driving me into the dirt where I am at a huge disadvantage. Even if I do take the corkscrew right, the CPU still pulls ahead despite the fact they have just bounced and smashed their way down the hill completely off course. No matter what lead I earn getting up to the corkscrew, the CPU just smashes right through me.

This doesn't happen to you?

The AI Assumes that on S-Rank your going to be going at least faster then them through the corners.

What the AI is doing is Freaking out because your most probably going through the corner too slowly. If your going fast enough, even the AI with faster cars will not hit you and they will drive correctly (As they can, they even battle each other). Its when your not taking the corner right or too slow that messes up there lines. They take all corners slow, so if your going at a rate that is slower then them, they try to avoid hitting you. However at the corkscrew because of the turns nature, avoiding you sends them into the dirt, then usually out of control and possibly into you further down the track.

They shouldn't even bump you while riding your bumper into the corkscrew on S-Rank, as long as your going through the corner fast enough...

That sound very possible... I will try the corner more and see if I can find a better braking method but so far I have tried following the CPU and I cannot match their braking points so it's on me to find a way to brake evenly and early enough... I will try what you outlined above and see if i can make it work.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into it.
