I can't really pick one, so I'll break it down as best I can by genre and era.

Classic Rock: Pink Floyd
Modern Rock: Red Fang

Classic Metal: Black Sabbath
Modern Metal: Mastodon

Classic Blues: Eric Clapton
Modern Blues: Gary Clark Jr.

Classic Country: Johnny Cash
Modern Country: Zac Brown Band (really the only modern country I listen to, so they win by default)

Apart from the country ones none are really favorites by a considerable margin though.

Can't really say since I like various genres, but there is one band I've followed the longest, and that is MetallicA. I had the pleasure to see them live on Friday. I can scratch that off my list of things to do before dying.

The best night of my life. Period.

Signs that a band just might be your favorite:
- You stop what you're doing, mesmerized, the first time you hear them on the radio (1995)
- You buy all their released stuff without bothering to listen to it first, and love it immediately
- You download all their live stuff from archive.org for safe keeping in case the internet dies
- You get really angry at yourself when you find they've done some tour dates near you in the past that you missed attending
- You buy a $400 plane ticket to Cali to go see them on a reunion tour in 2016, knowing all the songs will be old ones you have listened to thousands of times
- You make it a point to hang around the venue before and after the show to try to meet the band
- You record the audio from the show on your phone, knowing it will be awful quality
- You have no problem buying vinyl reissues of their 1998 album, despite not owning a record player
- You don't care that all your friends don't like them
- You only check Facebook and Reddit for news on them

Not my recording, but decent sound, of the same show in Pomona, CA:

Led Zeppelin is my favorite band of all time. I was 6 years old at my grandparent's farm going through their vinyl collection and after seeing the awesome cover of Led Zeppelin, I asked them to play it for me. After hearing the opening riff and hard hitting drums to Good Times Bad Times, I was absolutely hooked. They've been my favorite band since then. Jimmy Page is the reason I play guitar and once I was a bit older and could actually research Led Zeppelin, learning about their influences also made me branch out and start listening to a lot more music than I did before. Led Zeppelin introduced me to not only a lot more rock/blues rock bands, but blues, jazz, folk, country and more. So, in no particular order (other than number 1) here are some of my favorite bands.

Led Zeppelin
Cream
Rory Gallagher
The Yardbirds
Jeff Beck Group (and solo)
The Allman Brothers Band
The Tedeschi Trucks Band (The best current and touring band in the world right now, in my opinion)
The Derek Trucks Band
Colter Wall
Jerry Reed
Chet Atkins
Johnny Cash
Willie Nelson
James Brown
Charles Bradley
Mike Bloomfield
AC/DC
Albert Collins
Albert King
BB King
Freddie King
Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble
The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Band of Gypsys
The Band
The Beatles
The Beach Boys
Joe Bonamassa
Black Country Communion
Bob Dylan
Black Sabbath
Django Reinhardt
The Doors
Elton John

There are many, many more I could list, but these are the ones who came to mind without even thinking.

That’s a pretty kick ass list you got there, I agree with a lot of it. It’s nice to see someone have Rory Gallagher on a favorites list, that guy was phenomenal and super underrated, fairly unknown by the kids these days.

I’m a big Zeppelin Fan too, I’ve always been. I will say, I used to think Zeppelin, The Who, and Pink Floyd, The Beatles etc. were the best British bands. As I’ve gotten older, I think Black Sabbath and The Rolling Stones are better than all of those bands, but it’s just a personal opinion. Also, The Prodigy isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but that’s another favorite of mine from Britain.

I have so many favorites, it’s hard to pick just one. I don’t like much stuff after 2000.
