When does damage remain permanent?

I feel this is one of those topics that has been discussed quite a bit......but, I thought I'd finally get an answer to the question. I'm currently A-spec level 15 and B-Spec level 10. When I occasionally "scuff" a wall, ram another car, etc, etc.....my car often shows damage (hey, I'm still getting used to my new DFGT!). However, when I go to race my next race, my car is all fixed like new. Will this "free fixing"'end at a certain level? Does this have anything to do with the outrageous costs involved with chassis repair? Or.....are hanging bumpers and the like separate from chassis repair, and I'll never have to pay for these damages? Do I ever need to do chassis repair?

On another note.....I just won the Buick 62' Special that some people have raved about. Is this car useful down the road? It seems like if I were to be in some historic race later that the big Buick would handle like a pig and that there must be much more agile cars such as Lamborghinis or Cobra 427s. Thoughts?

I don't think there is any permanent damage. Your car gets dirty, your oil will need to be changed and maybe (not sure) after thousands of miles you may need to overhaul your engine and restore chassis rigidity.

Ok guys, doesnt really belong in this topic, but I browsed trough 12 pages and couldn't find the right one...

For one trophy, you need to lose a bodypart. I am level 28 A-spec, drove a premium C4 rally car, slammed against all walls, and opponents on various tracks, but couldnt seem to lose any bodypart, and don't have the trophy as well.

Anyone who has it, and any tips?

Do it in Arcade mode at any close quarters track (narrow ones work best). I did it at Madrid.

I'm guessing you need to be a higher level. I am level 29 and am yet to experience this, but the experience points are a very small fraction of what we would need to be level 40. If the damage increases based on percentage of experience points out of whatever is required for level 40, we might not see something permanent for a while. I'm only recently starting to see decent cosmetic damage.

Engine wear happens as you put miles on a car. I've had to rebuild the engine on my Bobs' FGT once already when it dipped under 850 after oil changes (it's a little over 900 when healthy). It's back down to about 880 last I checked. Bobs have put about 14k miles on it since I bought it.

Thanks, will try tomorrow since BOB is grinding the 24h of le mans.

As for Jfrogs info, I get quite some "big" damages during races, like open hoods/trunks, hanging bumpers. The mechanical damage can be quite nasty to. Nothing permanent though!
For the engine wear, yes, my formula GT only has 800hp at the moment (27.874km), I wont change oil, and wont spend any money on a chassis repair, since BOB still seems verry happy :)
