when travelling backwards TC cuts in?

This has annoyed me for a while on gt5 and now on GTA demo. If you spinoff and are going backward but you go ibto lower gear and hit the throttle - TC cuts in and stops you from accelerating. Even with TC 0. You can see it on the throttle bar.

This really annoys me and stops you from spinning the car back around quickly.

Anyone else annoyed by this?

Have you ever tried it? Get into a big spin and as your car is travelling backwards drop a gear and hit full throttle. Your wheels don't start to turn until you have nearly come to a stop.

I retested last night and its like TC kicks in to remove your application of power.

Traveling backwards like rolling down the straight? Also the RPMs will bob once in a while when rolling? If yes, then sure yeah, but if you rip the e-brake to get the RPMs up, that should solve this problem.

I forgot about this to be honest. I haven't had that problem since early DS3 days. I never have this problem on my wheel, so it has been a long time.

Happens on my wheel and pedals. When I say going backwards I mean over 20mph during a spin out. Tryit. Spin a car and as your travelling backwards plant the throttle and see if you can build any revs. ..

What wheel? I am currently on a G27, I could be going 100MPH in reverse and get the wheels spinning forward by using the clutch. On my DFGT and DS3, I did the e-brake trick to get it to do the same thing.

Hi dfgt user here. I shouldn't need to use an ebrake surely. I just press go and the wheels which have already lost traction should still start to spin forward in a powerful enough car. The game artificially stops you from controlling the throttle.

I know what you're talking about, but I don't think it's the traction control that causes it. It's probably some automatic thing that occurs whenever you're going from reverse into forward and vice versa. Perhaps to avoid stalling the engine or damaging the gearbox?

If you want to spin the car around quickly, just reverse until you go go about 30-40 km/h and then quickly turn the wheel, you'll turn around on a dime.

Yeah sort of. The problem is the auto clutch on the DS3 or DFGT (controllers without a clutch) on GT5.

If you roll backwards like that on GT5 with a wheel with a clutch and do not engage the clutch, the car will completely shut off/stall. The auto clutch in GT5 tries to basically engage the clutch to stop that from happening. This is why the RPMs rev up every so often while rolling backwards.

Like I said, I used to just rip the e-brake, then get the RPMs up, and then let the e-brake go. That always solved the problem.

Yea but I want to feel in control of the car. If I put ky foot down when im in gear I want the wheels to rotate.

RE traction control it's like it pops up and I can see the TC red line to kill my attempt power even with TC switched off...

auto clutch sounds possible its as you say I have no power at all. I press the pedal and no go. But then maybe not because the revs don't build at all. I.e eveb if the wheels didn't spin as the clutch was depressed I'd expect my revs to climb but they don't.

Yeah that's another reason why I got my G27. What I think you are talking about is in fact the auto clutch. Looks like TCS, but it is just the auto clutch.

The reason the revs don't not climb is because you have no control over the clutch. Basically what it is trying to simulate, is the proper way of using a manual transmission. Same reason I can't power shift up on my G27. Just a proper way of driving.

It's auto clutch, it's there for controller users and those who use the paddle shifters. Driving with a wheel in manual mode removes this totally, the same thing happens when you drive off road and then try to bury the throttle, you see the red bar come up and limit your acceleration input(not sure why they do this at all at that point). Kaz needs to add clutch to the controller input as well, which should be interesting and how about some power shifting too(flat shift). The demo is really eye opening in the overall control dynamics and physics it's so refreshing to feel so in control of your car and the GTR Black Edition is one heavy tank and it feels like one. I hope to see more depth as I am itching to take my entire GT5 garage through GT6 total physics revamp, it beckons me.

I think having a clutch button on the controller will make it too difficult for us controller people to reliably drive a car let alone make fast laps. Fingers are already preoccupied with accelerating and braking alongside shifting.

It really isn't hard at all, I have the clutch on my controller when I play Forza, it only took about a day to get used to it. I put the clutch button on Y (Where the Triangle is on a PS controller) and it's not too hard, I'd like to see an optional clutch button on GT, but I'm not sure if it'd be advantageous like it is in FM4, where using the clutch allows you to shift quicker, and purchasing clutch upgrades is almost (if not totally) pointless, saving money and points on the performance index (FM's PP system).
