I LOVED GT3 and GT4. didnt have a PS for GT/GT2 but I did play GT2 at my friends' house and even then I liked the fact that it wasnt the typical "dumbed down" car game. ive been a car enthusiast from as long as I can remember, so GT became something very special for me.
I remember SO MUCH about the day I went to buy the GT4 which i had been waiting for I dont even remember how many years and then walking back to the car park and driving off in my mitsubishi galant vr4 '91 (same as in-game only in-game its a '89 i think). anyway, i remember exactly what the weather was, how the traffic was driving home from CBD to suburbs (very light, so i got home fast). i remember the songs that played on my nakamichi cd-player in my car when i was driving TO buy and FROM buying the game.
it was all SO special and then the game - i just couldn't have asked for more.
buying GT5 was hilarious. i went to wikipedia to see when gt5 will be released and whaddya know - it was THE day, THIS day, TODAY. so, i got into my fathers ugly toyota avensis '08 (i hate cars that are never than '99 - generally, of course, esp. plastic buckets like this one..). i dont remember anything but the awful HEAVY-HEAVY snow in the end of november. i got home, it took about an hour for it to install itself, i played for about half an hour and was already bored. i didnt touch the game until 4 days later. i played for 4-4 1/2 hours altogether of 8-9 hours total. i cant say i didnt like the game in the beginning as it was like my favorite, GT4 and equally nice, GT3 were - you buy a crappy car and start with the sunday cup blahblah..it was nice, i liked that. but a-spec was all that i liked about the game. everything else was absolutely useless and never used by me.
of course i used the dealerships, used car lot and free racing mode - NOT ARCADE, the free mode that you can choose from under gt mode.
like someones death, i finally entered the acceptance stage where i accepted the game sucked, but a-spec was still ok, free mode was GOOD, and the choice of cars was...well same as gt4 + a few new ones here and there but nothing that would interest me. then i happened to look at the car list for forza 4, i think it was, and i was in heaven - audis, bmws, mb's - omg. an american company includes e34 m5, e39 m5, audi s6, audi s4, audi s3, audi rs2, audi rs4, audi rs6, plenty of mb amg's and of course great US of A cars. and great JP cars. i LOVE 80s JP cars. why the hell cant PD add an ABSOLUTELY important car like Nissan President or - come on - even more important, the one that MADE Lexus what it is today - Lexus LS400. yes, they are not even close to racing cars but are the other 20-30% cars??? i answer no and i know true car enthusiasts cant do nothing but agree.
and now the boat is quietly sailing to the same place as it was with gt5..lets hope it wont be WORSE (that they will choose to dock somewhere in the Dominican Republic rather than ANYwhere in Hate-i)
