I keep seeing references to weight reduction and used to use this in earlierr versions of GT but I can find where you can apply weight reduction in GT5. Ive been looking in settings/ body.

I have looked at all the threads relating to weight reduction but I guess Im the only dumb s**t who cant figure this out.

I thought the tuning shop was the same as the options you get in settings. Are there other delights in there that I should know about?

Weight reduction, engine upgrades (stage 1, 2, 3).

very improtant bit

if you tune your car in Garage then you can remove any tuned part and create car STANDART again, to participate lets say in ONLINE events or Seasonal Events, IF you tune your car in TUNING SHOP, buy weight upgrades or engine stage 1, 2 and 3 upgrades, your car is broken forever and you will never be able to make it regular again. I dont put any of those on my cars since its alot more fun to drive with not tuned cars, esspecialy if its needed for Standard car racing online or Seasonals.. PS. you can detune your engine HP % but it will not count if there will be Stage 1 tuning or weight upgrade.. so Be aware and dont put them on until you realy need to... I use all other parts and 95% of the time it is enough.

LOL all my cars are broken forever...
While NA engine tunes cannot be removed, I have never seen an online or seasonal race that specifically stated "no stage # tuning"... it's usually a HP or PP limit, sometimes with a minimum weight limit as well. And although weight reduction mods cannot be undone, you *can* add ballast to put the weight back on whenever it's needed, but I'm pretty sure the maximum available ballast is less than the total weight taken off in stage 3 weight reduction on some of the heavier cars. For example, the maximum weight reduction for a Mercedes AMG model may be 315kg reduction but the maximum ballast available is only 200kg... some cars will still be a lot lighter even with maximum ballast.

Cant believe Ive got as far as I have without knowing this,,,,,,how stupid do I feel right now? LOL

I'm guessing you haven't had the game that long. You weren't able to buy parts at all from the garage screen when the game first came out. Could be really annoying if you were tuning your car to beat a particular field of opposition. You exit the race, go to the garage, tune and come back to find that the field has changed and that front runner you couldn't catch before has now gone and the race has become boring.

i'm trying to be helpful and informative.

Im mostly play online with standard cars with little or no tuning, so do my mature friends, if you have racing wheel you dont need to tune your cars to insanity, and yes they are broken, if you want to play in my online lobby you could not enter since now we have an option to disable tuning 100%, not even 1 part can be changed, so the point was , if you dont need to tune your car fully then use parts which you can remove later on and have fun with full standart car and not to have buy a new one. classic car enthusiasts and so will understand me.

I'm a mature classic enthusiast and I like to tune the my classics, and to compete against modern cars. I also think a stage na tune and weight loss is totally realistic for a classic (or any) track car/ racer.

Eg stock Honda Z = pretty tedious. Max tuned Z = great fun.

Credits are so easy to get now, I also keep originals copies and mild tunes org some cars. Best of both worlds.

agree, I have 2 versions of the same cars I like :) standart and heavily tuned (what I call - "broken") :sly:👍

some of them I have buyed 4 times or more just for the looks and some tuning. but since now we have 3 different setups for each car, I do this 1st is 100% standard car, I can select it anytime, 2nd is car tuned for Racing/grip, and 3d is Drift setup. So 1 car is for 3 purposes, and that is what happens if you dont tune stage 1,2 & 3, engine and weight. just an advice for the OP or other GTP members. 👍

and yes some cars do need stage 3 weigth and engine tuning. but most of the time you can do just as good without it.

you all may choose what you like to tune or not to tune (stage tuning).

I've started to do the same, I even have 3 Aston Martin Vantage V12s one standard one slightly breathed on and one full race tuned. They are all great to drive but the standard car with race tyres is remarkably good, the others are even better.

Thanks everyone, I guess the Jenny Craig ref is a US thing, I get your drift though, LOL , though ''stop spending hours on GT'' might be more effective,,,,,,,I think Id rather be Fat!

As for the steering wheel thing, Its quite clear from spending a week or so on this forum that a steering wheel (and pedals) seems to improve laptimes. I have one (a Logitech Driving Force GT) but Im useless with it.

Even with the force feedback turned down and power steering on, as you come out of a bend onto a straight, it just pitches from side to side. In real life I could let go of the wheel and the car would straighten up but not on this. Ive done loads of real trackdays and Ive never had to fight a car like this, not even the Lambo Diablo which was a monster. It drives me mad. Maybe I should have bought a better steering wheel.

WHOA! Wait a minute, How did credits become so easy to get now?? I've been grinding for a couple of days now with pittance to show for it. IS THERE AN EASIER WAY???

I just restored GT-5 from scratch, and with no login bonus, it seems a drag.

Cheers, Pete

Yes, well, my post was from 3 years ago when credits were easy to come by in seasonals.

Can't really help you with grinding - I came to a dead end on GT4 due to lack of funds. Good luck though.

Easiest way I know of is too repeat the Like The Wind race in an X1. 100K in less than 5 minutes. AFAIK there isn't a faster way.

OK, Thanks Jason, I guess I gotta work for my money now, sigh, I will give that a shot since I have somehow accumulated and X car of some sort. It's black and looks similar to the Standard in GT-6
Cheers, Pete
