This is going to run in the same way as its GT2 sub-forum counterpart. If there is a similar thread, I'm sorry and if that is the case I'd prefer this thread merged with any pre-existing threads covering this topic.

Trial Mountain: I've always had it in my head that it was in Colorado, seeing as Colorado is a mountainous state.

High-Speed Ring: I think it's somewhere in southern England. I made a little bit of a backstory about it too, that it was designed by Aston Martin or Jaguar to test out high-performance models, and they allow Hamilton wannabes to drive on it.

Special Stage Route 5: It's name has made me think that it's somewhere near Special Stage Route 11, which I think is in Tokyo because in GT3 at the first corner you actually have to brake for, you can see something resembling the Rainbow Bridge.

Mid Field Raceway: Somewhere in southern England.

Driving Park (Test Course, Beginner's Course, the Gymkhana and Motorland): Seeing as I can't see a lot of mountains around any of them except the Gymkhana, I think it's somewhere in England, and the Gymkhana is at a completely separate location.

Grand Valley Speedway: I think it's somewhere in Japan, and Nissan built it to have some equivalent to Suzuka (owned by Honda) and Fuji (owned by Toyota).

Swiss Alps: Somewhere very close to the Swiss-German border, seeing as Switzerland doesn't allow motorsports as far as I know.

Deep Forest Raceway: Somewhere near Munich...so drivers can celebrate by getting wasted during Oktoberfest. :D

Chamonix: Massif Central, France.

Ass Ice Arena: Seeing as you can see the start/finish line of Chamonix, just a few metres away from the Chamonix track.

Apricot Hill: Near Canberra (I thought Australia needed some tracks).

Autumn Ring: Half of my mind says Australia, even though I've never seen what an Australian autumn is like. The other half says Oregon, maybe because that's more likely to have autumns with orange leaves.

You're right, that's because of the infamous Le Mans crash that took the lives of 86 (if I remember well) people in the '20.

Sorry, it was in 1955, looked it up on the internet.

This is what i've heard...

High Speed Ring is inspired by Fuji
Midfield Raceway is inspired by Suzuka
Apricot Hill is also inspired by Suzuka, but with mixed corners. That's why you have the Z chicane at the end.

I don't know why but I associate High Speed Ring with Germany...the techinical corners and the high speeds...it brings me a vague memory of the AVUS.

Oh I was about to say... Original Circuits.

For some reason I have always thought that the Ice Arena track was located somewhere in Lapland.
Yeah so is Beginner Course. Ice Arena is sort of like Beginner Course Rally... which is also in Lapland.

This thread is awesome but because I'm pretty tired right now I'll only contribute one idea: hmmm...let me think...Complex St(ring)?=Germany?
No, not because I'm from Germany but because it is so long, technical=Nordschleife and so grey and dull=shi...y weather of northern Germany, where I live

Autumn Ring = Canada?

Hm, somehow, I agree.:D

..and with that too:sly:

The "complex ring" thingy, it was in GT3, not 4, my bad.:dunce:

The hill called "El Capitan" actually exists in America, so the El Capitan track is clearly thought it is in the US(If the real track exists somewhere in the world). And about others... I think the driving park courses are also in America, High Speed Ring is somewhere in Eupore.. And Autumn Ring too(I personally think it's in the UK, as "Autumn" is British English and British people call the season so). On the other hand, I have no idea about where Trial mountain and Deep forest are..(But I guess one of them is in one of the countries in tropical areas on the earth. :D)

Interesting thread. I've often thought about this during my many hours of gameplay with the GT series.

Grand Valley is a very European looking circuit, but despite this I imagined it to be somewhere in North America. The name "Grand Valley" always sounded very American to me so perhaps that's where my assumption came from.

Trial Mountain gives me a Japanese vibe due to the scenery. The monkey sitting in a tree above the track gave me extra reason to believe this too, but then it could also possibly be anywhere in Asia, Africa or South America.

Deep Forest is a circuit I always imagined to be situated in Germany. I get a bit of a "mini-Nürburgring" feel from it, even though the circuit itself doesn't really resemble the 'ring one bit.

Midfield Raceway is one I thought to be in the Pacific region, maybe in Japan or even somewhere a bit further to the east - Hawaii.

Highspeed Ring, like CarBastard, I also assumed this circuit was in Germany. I'm not really sure why, perhaps someone here on GTPlanet may have suggested the idea.

Special Stage Route 5, despite the English road signs, I pictured this circuit (along with CSR5 and SSR11) to be situated right in the heart of Tokyo. Perhaps the idea of circuits based on highways was inspired by the illegal "Wangan" street racing scene. And as Driftking18594 said, there's clearly some Tokyo inspired scenery in the background.

lukeconnelly
grand valley was inspired by spa
Do you have a source on that? It may answer some more questions.

I don't have a source. It's just the corners are alike

I've read the thread on the GT2 boards about this, plus i've thought a lot about it from playing all of the GT series (Up to GT5 of course!), so here's my two cents:

Grand Valley: I've always thought that Grand Valley was located somewhere in Europe, probably Corsica or Greece. This is mainly due to the the look and topography of the Cliff-sides surrounding the track. Plus, "Grand Valley" sounds like a translation of a Circut Name, not an actual one...

Ice Arena: I'm going with Smallhorses on this one, I.E. the Ice Arena is located in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.

Trial Mountain: Honstely, this circut could be anywhere from Japan to Africa to South America (As Jackington pointed out).

Deep Forrest: Germany, No questions there.

High-Speed Ring: For the longest time i thought that this track was located in Japan, but as of GT4 i'm not so sure. If it was still in Japan, it would probably be located somwhere in northern Japan, like near Kyoto, but it could be in England just as well.

Mid-Field Raceway: I remember reading an article with Kazunori Yamauchi about how Mid-Field was inspired by the Twin Ring Motegi Road Course, so i've always thought it was in Japan...But the i notice a European-Styled Castle off to the left side of the track just before the set of

Autumn Ring: I've always felt that this track was in America, specifically Pennsylvania.

Special Stage Route 5: This couse was probably inspired by the Wangan Midnight crowd, so even with the english road signs i'll say it's in Japan.

Apricot Hill: The location of this course could really be anywhere that grows Apricots (Hence the Name), but i'll go with it being in Italy on the grounds that in GT2 the tire barriers were colored Red, White & Green.

Grand Valley: Looks like somewhere in Europe, most likely Britain.

Ice Arena: Either Canada or Scandinavia.

Trial Mountain: North Britain or more specifically Scotland. After all in GT2 the British Nationals take place there...

Deep Forest: Germany. Again using GT2's German Nationals as a reference.

High Speed Ring: Really mixed on this one. For me it's probably America judging by GT5P at least.

Midfield Raceway: Japan for me, again using GT2's Japan Nationals as a reference.

Autumn Ring: For whatever reason, the La Festa Italiano makes me say Italy for this one.

Special Stage Route 5: I feel like saying America no matter what everyone else says.

Apricot Hill: I feel as if though it's in South America somewhere even though I'm probably way off.

I'll put my opinion on the tracks here:

Ice Arena: I agree with Smallhorses and Kingofweasles on this one.Ice Arena is located in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.

High Speed Ring: Germany, the reason being because it reminds me of the old AVUS track, and the name fits for a Greman racetrack.

Trial Mountain: America. More specifically, anywhere along the Appalachian Mountains. That means from Georgia to Maine, and anywhere in between.

Autumn Ring: This one could either be in the U.S., more specifically Pennsylvania, or Japan, specifically the Hiroshima area. It reminds me of Sakura (cherry blossoms.)

Deep Forest: Maine, New Jersey's forests or Germany. No favorite out of the three.

Special Stage Route 5: The Wangan in Tokyo or Osaka. No questions asked.

Mid-Field Raceway: Actually, maybe near Minnesota because of the lake near the hairpin turn. There are a lot of lakes in Minnesota.
